It looks like Ferndale has brought back one of their own to coach their girls basketball program.
The MHSAA website is confirming that Keith Paris is back coaching girls basketball at Ferndale. It was unknown when it was posted on there but it is on there now.
Paris takes over for Coach Al Katolla whom was at Ferndale for one year. The Eagles went 1-17 last season falling to Ferndale University in the district semifinals. Katolla coached the Boys Basketball program at Oak Park prior to coming to Ferndale last season.
Paris went 4-14 in the 2019-2020 season. The Eagles fell to Detroit Cody in the first round that season. Ferndale did not field a program because of the Coronavirus pandemic. He stepped down in 2021 but is returning according to the MHSAA website.
Ferndale will be in the Blue this season. They will see Ferndale University, Oak Park, Pontiac, Avondale, Farmington, and Bloomfield Hills twice. The Eagles are going to be in a very interesting district that has Warren Lincoln, Warren Fitzgerald, Hazel Park, and Ferndale University at Hazel Park.
The Eagles will have some experience in Jada Buchanan, Angel Ajonouma, Briunna Young, Tarriyah Early, and Jayla Martin coming back for Paris.
Program strength and stability is what Ferndale needs right now.
It will be very interesting to see what happens with the Eagles coming into the season.
Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
