Ferndale University is looking for a new girls basketball coach.
According to the MHSAA website they confirmed that Bennie Szczepkowski has stepped down after one season with the Eagles.
Ferndale University Boys Basketball Coach Josh Nicks had recently took the job at Hazel Park and Szczepkowski has decided to follow suit as well with the girls program.
Szczepkowski went 10-8 with the Eagles last season and has revamped the program but he stepped down not too long ago.
It will be very interesting to see what happens with Ferndale University. It could be possible that Ferndale and Ferndale University could merge their basketball programs.
Ferndale University joins Ferndale in coaching vacancies heading into next season. The Eagles are in the Gold with Pontiac, Oak Park, Farmington, North Farmington, and Waterford. They are in a district with Birmingham Detroit Country Day, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Madison Heights Lamphere, and Center Line.
