Boys Golf State Finals Preview.

The Division One State field for Boys Golf is set at the Meadows in Allendale. Novi Detroit Catholic Central is one of the favorites after winning the Division One State crown last season. There are three OAA teams that are in the field and all of them made it past the same regional with their team.

Adams shot a 306 at their regional. They are one of the favorites after adding another trophy case to their collection winning the regional crown last week. Lake Orion was second with 319 has a shot to win it. The 2019 State Champs has not had the greatest of seasons but they are here and they have a shot to win it. Bloomfield Hills was third with 326. The Blackhawks are another team that could contend as well in the State crown conversation.

Seaholm has two individuals who made the field but barely missed out on third in their regional as a team.

It will be very interesting to see what happens this weekend. 

Softball Regional Preview.

Here is my preview for softball regionals.

Region 6 @ Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK vs Livonia Churchill

Grosse Pointe North vs Detroit Renaissance

This is a very interesting regional. The Ravens earned their first district crown in school history and shutting me up in the process with a 20-9 district final stunner over Berkley. Royal Oak will have Livonia Churchill. The Chargers earned a hard fought 4-2 win over arch rival Livonia Stevenson. They are a very good team. These two teams are not familiar with one another so it’s a very interesting matchup. The winner could likely see Grosse Pointe North who won a not as strong district. Detroit Renaissance won a 19-18 shootout over Ferndale in the district finals. If Royal Oak wins this regional, then who knows where they go next.

 

Region 7 @ Troy Athens

BLOOMFIELD HILLS vs Utica Ford II

St. Clair Shores Lakeshore vs Warren Regina

The Blackhawks are a scoring machine and they showed it in the district. Bloomfield Hills has Utica Ford II in a very interesting matchup. If they can get by the Falcons whom are battle tested after coming off a 9-8 win over Utica in the district finals then they could see Warren Regina. The Satellites are a proven softball power. If Bloomfield Hills can have a deep run then anything is possible.

 

Region 8 @ Oxford

OXFORD vs LAKE ORION

STONEY CREEK vs Macomb Dakota

This should be a very interesting regional which has three Red teams and a MAC Red team. Macomb Dakota has been a solid program. Lake Orion and Stoney Creek have been near the top of the Red all season. Oxford has had some moments of greatness and they have home field. The Battle of the Cougars should be a pitching duel, Macomb Dakota had trouble with New Baltimore Anchor Bay in the district finals. Stoney Creek has two proven pitchers including Erin Flynn. The Battle of M-24 is very interesting, both teams know each other well. Lake Orion has played well all season, Oxford has been solid as well this season. It should be a very interesting regional.

Regional Semifinal 11 @ Royal Oak

BERKLEY vs Warren DeLaSalle

This should be a very interesting matchup between the Bears and the Pilots. Warren DeLaSalle is coming off a 1-0 win over Fraser in the district finals. Berkley is riding with a ton of confidence. It should be a very interesting matchup to say the least at Royal Oak.

 

Regional Semifinal 12 @ Warrior Park

SEAHOLM vs Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit

The Maples used just enough offense and pitching to win at Birmingham Brother Rice 4-3 in the district final. Now they get another Catholic League school in the Cubs. They did not have a very strong district. Seaholm looks like they could be ready for a deep postseason run.

 

Regional Semifinals 14 @ Avondale

ADAMS vs TROY ATHENS

The Red Hawks are riding with a ton of confidence after beating Troy and Utica but this might be their toughest task yet when it comes to Adams. The Highlanders have been red hot lately. Adams looks to continue their deep postseason run in this matchup in Auburn Hills.

 

Regional 15 @ Lakeland

LAKE ORION vs Lakeland

The Dragons might be the most dangerous team in the State right now after upsetting West Bloomfield and Orchard Lake St. Marys. Now they head to White Lake to take on the Eagles of Lakeland who is also state ranked. Consistency has been Lake Orion’s biggest enemy all season but if they put it together like they are now, then look out.
