The Phoenix went with a former Golden Grizzlie and Maverick in the NBA as their new Girls Varsity basketball coach.
Pontiac named Rawle Marshall as their new head coach confirmed on the MHSAA website.
Marshall brings a lot of experience as a player at Oakland in college and in Dallas in the NBA. He led the Golden Grizzlies to the 2005 NCAA Tournament and shot the winning basket to beat Oral Roberts in the Mid-Con Championship game.
The Phoenix are starting over as a program. They did not field a program last season. It is starting from scratch.
It will be very interesting to see how Pontiac does this season. They got themselves a proven young coach who will get them over the top in the future. The Phoenix will be in the Blue with Avondale, Harper Woods, Farmington, Seaholm, Oak Park, Ferndale, and Ferndale University. They are also in a really brutal district with Waterford Mott, Waterford Kettering, Avondale, and Clarkston at Waterford Mott.
