STATEMENT WIN: Ferndale. The Eagles are on the verge of winning the Gold after winning 21-10 over Avondale on Friday night. Coach Eric Royal has a ton of proven experience which helps a ton. This is a big win for the program to get back to where they want to be at. They have Farmington looming next week.

TOUGH LOSS: Troy Athens. The Red Hawks had a ton of momentum heading into their game against North Farmington on Friday night but the Raiders made a statement with a 28-7 win over Troy Athens on Friday night. The Red Hawks have Pontiac looming next week.

WHAT HAPPENED??? Troy. The Colts were coming in very good defensively all season but they were exposed by Seaholm on Friday night falling 52-0 at the Maple Forest. Troy is at a crossroads right now. They have Royal Oak looming next week.

TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG: Harper Woods. The Pioneers have been stuck on 12 points for two weeks. They lost their second game by a combined nine points after a tough 15-12 loss to Groves. Harper Woods postseason hopes could be in some jeopardy. They have Bloomfield Hills looming next week.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME: Bloomfield Hills. The Blackhawks came off a huge emotional win over Oak Park last week now yes it was going to be a tough matchup but Bloomfield Hills allowed 49 points in a 49-7 loss to Southfield Arts and Tech. The Blackhawks have a huge game looming with Harper Woods next week.

Week Six Thoughts.

Written Friday September 30th at 11:30 PM

West Bloomfield: The Lakers bounced back on homecoming behind the play of Semaj Morgan and Kenny Jones in a 41-14 win over Lake Orion on Friday night. West Bloomfield has Oxford in the Swamp next week.

Adams: The Highlanders are rolling right now. They earned a 33-7 win over Oxford on Friday night. Adams has Stoney Creek looming next week.

Clarkston: The Wolves earned a hard fought 28-14 homecoming win over Stoney Creek on Friday night. Clarkston has been rolling as of late led by the play of quarterback Mike Hein and running back Ethan Clark. They have Lake Orion looming next week.

Lake Orion: The Dragons were just blitzkrieg all night by West Bloomfield falling 41-14 in the Swamp. Lake Orion had flashbacks of Adams and Utica Eisenhower at the same time in that game. The Dragons have a big one looming with Clarkston next week.

Stoney Creek: The Cougars lost a tough one to Clarkston 28-14 on Friday night. Jon Fogler made his return this week. Stoney Creek has another tough one looming with Adams next week.

Oxford: The Wildcats had a tough time with Adams on Friday night falling 33-7. The schedule does not get any easier for Oxford as they head to the Swamp next week.

Southfield Arts and Tech: The Warriors stranglehold on the White is almost complete with a 49-7 win over Bloomfield Hills. Southfield Arts and Tech’s defense has only allowed 14 points in the last two games. They have Oak Park looming next week.

Harper Woods: The Pioneers have lost their last two games by a combined nine points including a 15-12 loss to Groves on Friday night. Harper Woods has Bloomfield Hills looming next week.

Groves: The Falcons bounced back by earning a hard fought 15-12 win over Harper Woods on Friday night. Groves has a tough schedule ahead of them. They have Rochester looming next week.

Rochester: The Falcons are rolling right now and they won 26-6 over Oak Park on Friday night. Rochester is clicking at the right time. They have Groves looming next week.

Bloomfield Hills: The Blackhawks had things very rough on Friday night. Bloomfield Hills fell 49-7 on their homecoming to Southfield Arts and Tech. The Blackhawks have Harper Woods looming next week.

Oak Park: The Knights had a really tough 26-6 loss to Rochester on Friday night in Knight Valley. The schedule gets much tougher going forward for Oak Park. They have Southfield Arts and Tech looming next week.

Seaholm: The Maples put any hopes on anybody catching them to bed with a 52-0 statement over Troy on Friday night. If there is any doubt about Seaholm put it to bed. The black jerseys need some work though. They have Berkley looming next week.

North Farmington: Ryan Shelby made his return at quarterback and the Raiders were more than glad to have him back in a 28-7 victory over Troy Athens on Friday night. Shelby whom had an ACL injury last November had a big night for North Farmington against a very good defense. They have Avondale looming next week.

Farmington: The Falcons bounced back by beating Pontiac 49-0 on their homecoming Friday night. Dominic Peshi and Cam Pettaway had big nights. Farmington had a very tough loss falling 16-14 to Troy last week. They have Ferndale looming next week.

Troy:  The Colts defense had a rough night allowing 52 points which the most allowed all season in a 52-0 blowout loss to Seaholm. Troy needs to bounce back with Royal Oak looming next week.

Troy Athens: The Red Hawks had a really tough loss falling 28-7 to North Farmington on Friday night. They have Pontiac looming next week.

Berkley:  It has been a really rough season for the Bears but I owe them an apology for what they did on Friday night. Berkley kept the Battle of Woodward street sign for another season with a 30-7 win at Hurley Field over Royal Oak. Maybe this turns their season around. The Bears have a very tough matchup looming against Seaholm at Hurley Field next week.

Avondale: The Yellow Jackets Gold hopes took a hit with a tough 21-10 loss to Avondale on Friday night. Avondale has a tough matchup looming with North Farmington next week.

Royal Oak: The Ravens fell 30-7 to arch rival Berkley in the Battle of Woodward on Friday night. Royal Oak had their chances but it wasn’t meant to be. They have Troy looming next week.

Pontiac: The Phoenix had a tough one falling 49-0 to Farmington on Friday night. They have another tough matchup looming with Troy Athens next week.

Ferndale: The Eagles control their own destiny in the Gold after a 21-10 win over Avondale on Friday night. Ferndale is looking really good in the division. They have a big one looming with Farmington next week.

DUNLAP 45-22

TIM 42-25

STICK 43-24

COTTER 52-15

1. Southfield Arts and Tech at Bloomfield Hills: The Warriors have been a completely different team defensively since the 54 and 62 points allowed in the first two weeks of the season. They allowed seven points in a 42-7 win over Groves last week. The defense has been the key to Southfield Arts and Tech being more balanced. The Blackhawks earned their first win of the season by beating Oak Park 25-21 last week. Jace Reed had two touchdowns in that game. He will look to create that balance of run and pass with quarterback CJ Jackson and wide receiver Ahmad Taylor. This should be an interesting matchup but the Warriors are on a different level right now.

SANDY DUNES: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 70, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 14.

BURNEY: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 50, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 30.

DUNLAP: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 45, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 14.

TIM: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 42, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 3.

STICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH over BLOOMFIELD HILLS.

COTTER: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 49, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 14.

2. Adams at Oxford: The Highlanders have been rolling ever since falling at home to Clarkston two weeks ago. They sent a statement by beating West Bloomfield for the third time in two years 35-18 last week. In watching the “Duff Said Podcast,” Adams Coach Tony Patritto said that going to Oxford was going to be a challenge and that he has friends that coach there and has known them for a long time. The Wildcats have struggled this season especially on the offensive end but their defense has played well and held Clarkston to 14 points last week. This should be a very interesting game at Wildcat Stadium this week.

SANDY DUNES: ADAMS 21, OXFORD 7.

BURNEY: ADAMS 33, OXFORD 20.

DUNLAP: ADAMS 28, OXFORD 10.

TIM: ADAMS 49, OXFORD 42.

STICK: ADAMS over OXFORD.

COTTER: ADAMS 45, OXFORD 10.

6. Lake Orion at 3. West Bloomfield: This is a game of two different styles. The Lakers have had the Dragons number for eight years straight coming into their homecoming game. West Bloomfield whom is known for their big play experience is coming off a tough 35-18 loss to Rochester Adams last week. Lake Orion is a very methodical team. They won 24-14 over Stoney Creek on their homecoming last week. This should be a very interesting game to see what happens in the Swamp.

SANDY DUNES: LAKE ORION 34, WEST BLOOMFIELD 31.

BURNEY: WEST BLOOMFIELD 34, LAKE ORION 29.

DUNLAP: WEST BLOOMFIELD 36, LAKE ORION 20.

TIM: WEST BLOOMFIELD 56, LAKE ORION 28.

STICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD over LAKE ORION.

COTTER: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42, LAKE ORION 21.

7. Troy at 4. Seaholm: This game could decide the Blue. The Colts have quietly been at 4-1 behind a very good defense and special teams play. The offense has struggled a little bit despite Nolan Block having a big game against Farmington last week. The Maples are rolling on all cylinders behind the play of the Kinnie brothers and Sean Emerson. Seaholm also got some timely plays in their 29-22 win over North Farmington at Ron Holland Field last week. Whoever wins this game likely wins the Blue outright.

SANDY DUNES: SEAHOLM 42, TROY 15.

BURNEY: SEAHOLM 33, TROY 23.

DUNLAP: SEAHOLM 24, TROY 17.

TIM: SEAHOLM 42, TROY 14.

STICK: TROY over SEAHOLM.

COTTER: SEAHOLM 28, TROY 9.

9. Stoney Creek at 5. Clarkston: This should be a very interesting matchup. Both teams lost last week and both teams have very good running backs. The Cougars have Cam Fogler. He did not play in their 24-14 loss to Lake Orion last week. It is unknown if he will play this week. The Wolves have Ethan Clark. Clark wasn’t himself either. He fumbled at the one yard line in their game last week. Clarkston won 14-3 over Oxford thanks to a returning quarterback Mike Hein and defensive back Desman Stephens. It should be a very interesting matchup as mentioned but it depends if everyone is back from injury.

SANDY DUNES: CLARKSTON 28, STONEY CREEK 21.

BURNEY: CLARKSTON 31, STONEY CREEK 21.

DUNLAP: CLARKSTON 35, STONEY CREEK 7.

TIM: CLARKSTON 38, STONEY CREEK 14.

STICK: CLARKSTON over STONEY CREEK

COTTER: CLARKSTON 28, STONEY CREEK 14.

Pontiac at 8. Farmington: The Falcons had been playing good football until last week. They are coming off a very difficult 16-14 loss to Troy last week. Farmington needs some outside help if they want to win the Blue. They have the Phoenix this week. Pontiac has struggled all season long but they have been much improved in the last few weeks. It will be a tough chore for them heading to Falcon Field this week.

SANDY DUNES: FARMINGTON 63, PONTIAC 16.

BURNEY: FARMINGTON 35, PONTIAC 14.

DUNLAP: FARMINGTON 42, PONTIAC 6.

TIM: FARMINGTON 142, PONTIAC 2.

STICK: FARMINGTON over PONTIAC.

COTTER: FARMINGTON 49, PONTIAC 8.

North Farmington at 10. Troy Athens: It has been very unusual for the Raiders. North Farmington has lost 10 of their last 11 games which is mind boggling. The last two games they lost by a combined 13 points. The Red Hawks had some dark times in the last two weeks but they have seemed to turn things around a little bit after winning 30-13 over Royal Oak last week. This should be a very interesting game at Red Hawk Stadium this week.

SANDY DUNES: NORTH FARMINGTON 28, TROY ATHENS 17.

BURNEY: NORTH FARMINGTON 26, TROY ATHENS 18.

DUNLAP: TROY ATHENS 21, NORTH FARMINGTON 20.

TIM: TROY ATHENS 28, NORTH FARMINGTON 21,

STICK: TROY ATHENS over NORTH FARMINGTON.

COTTER: NORTH FARMINGTON 28, TROY ATHEMS 14.

Rochester at Oak Park: These are two teams that are improving despite their respective records. The Falcons earned a bounce back 18-12 win over Harper Woods last week. The Knights have been improved but can’t seem to get a break in the win column. They fell 25-21 to Bloomfield Hills last week. Rochester won last season over Oak Park. The Knights should be motivated for a win this week.

SANDY DUNES: ROCHESTER 30, OAK PARK 28

BURNEY: OAK PARK 28, ROCHESTER 20.

DUNLAP: ROCHESTER 31, OAK PARK 6.

TIM: ROCHESTER 28, OAK PARK 14.

STICK: ROCHESTER over OAK PARK.

COTTER: ROCHESTER 28, OAK PARK 12.

Harper Woods at Groves: These are two teams that are coming off humbling experiences last week. The Pioneers fell 18-12 to Rochester and had a defensive stand against them late in that game. The Falcons were humiliated falling 42-7 to Southfield Arts and Tech in Beverly Hills. This is a big game for both teams for postseason purposes.

SANDY DUNES: HARPER WOODS 24, GROVES 14.

BURNEY: HARPER WOODS 36, GROVES 23.

DUNLAP: HARPER WOODS 18, GROVES 13.

TIM: HARPER WOODS 28, GROVES 21.

STICK: GROVES over HARPER WOODS.

COTTER: HARPER WOODS 26, GROVES 14.

Royal Oak at Berkley: The Battle of Woodward is this week. The Ravens travel from Lexington Blvd. toward Catalpa Drive and Hurley Field. The Bears have been the dominant team in this rivalry winning four of the last six meetings but something looks different. Berkley has not been the same program since the Milan game. Both sides of the football has been the problem all season long. The Ravens have also been struggling as well. They have fared much better despite the struggles. This seems different because this is not the same Bears program as in the past. This would be a major stepping stone if Royal Oak wins this game and they have a shot to do it.

SANDY DUNES: ROYAL OAK 42, BERKLEY 35.

BURNEY: BERKLEY 24, ROYAL OAK 17.

DUNLAP: BERKLEY 21, ROYAL OAK 20.

TIM: BERKLEY 35, ROYAL OAK 14.

STICK: BERKLEY over ROYAL OAK.

COTTER: ROYAL OAK 21, BERKLEY 13.

Avondale at Ferndale: This game should be for the Gold. The Yellow Jackets are 2-0 in the division while the Eagles are also 2-0. Ferndale has played a much tougher schedule than Avondale when it comes to the non conference. The Yellow Jackets have won two straight while the Eagles are coming off a 20-11 win over Berkley last week. There is a lot of storylines heading into this game but whoever wins this game wins the division outright.

SANDY DUNES: FERNDALE 28, AVONDALE 24.

BURNEY: AVONDALE 27, FERNDALE 26.

DUNLAP: AVONDALE 31, FERNDALE 28.

TIM: AVONDALE 42. FERNDALE 21.

STICK: AVONDALE over FERNDALE.

COTTER: AVONDALE 26, FERNDALE 13.
