Ferndale University has their new Girls Basketball Coach.

Written Wednesday October 15th at 12:24 AM

The Eagles named their new Boys Basketball Coach in Anton Bradford, now they have named their new Girls Basketball Coach.

Ferndale University named Brian Pinkett as their new Girls Basketball Coach. He takes over the program for Bennie Szczepkowski who stepped down after the season.

The MHSAA website confirmed the move.

Pinkett coached at Detroit Universal Academy from 2021 until this past season and was previously the coach at Detroit Star International Academy from 2016 until 2020.

The Eagles went winless two years ago but won 10 games last season. Ferndale University has a lot of proven experience in Taniyah Cranford, Kadejah Miller, JiNayah Reynolds, Jayda Wilson, TaMayah Hill, TaMary Powell, Kendall Spencer, SuHunye Green, Nuraya Pryor, and Aria Matthews coming back. Program strength will be a serious concern and something to watch with the Eagles.

Ferndale University will be in the Gold with North Farmington, Farmington, Oak Park, Pontiac, and Waterford United this season. The Eagles will have a district which has Ferndale, Birmingham Detroit Country Day, Hazel Park, Center Line, and Madison Heights Lamphere.

It will be really interesting to see how Pinkett handles the OAA and builds a program this season.

Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
