The Black Hawks knew they were going to have their hands full on Saturday afternoon at the Kelloggs Center in Battle Creek.
Bloomfield Hills fell in four sets to Farmington Hills Mercy 19-25, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25 in the Division One State Finals.
The Marlins got off to a strong start which has been the norm under Coach Loretta Vogel. They focused their game plan on slowing down their star player Kayla Nwabueze making sure she didn't go off like she has done this season but sophomore Allison Stakone give the Black Hawks a spark but Farmington Hills Mercy had every answer for Bloomfield Hills rallies.
Nwabueze will forever be in the history books at Bloomfield Hills volleyball leading the Black Hawks past Birmingham Marian in the district finals and getting to the Division One State Finals for the first time in school history.
The Black Hawks lose a lot of proven talent including Nwabueze but Stakone and several others comes back for Coach Brian Kim. Bloomfield Hills will be back next season.
I'll have more on this match on the podcast.
