Carlisle let go at Avondale.

Written Monday November 3rd at 4:07 PM

The Yellow Jackets is making a coaching change after one season.

Avondale has let go football Coach Jim Carlisle after spending one season in Auburn Hills.

The MHSAA website along with a very accurate source confirmed the news.

Carlisle went 1-8 and 1-3 in the Gold in his only season with the Yellow Jackets which his spread offense scored 97 points which was the eighth worst in school history and allowed 326 points which was the second worst in school history (384-2010)

Carlisle has coached 37 years most recently he coached at Vassar from 2022 until 2024. He also had a stint at Imlay City which he was the coach from 2018 until 2022. Carlisle went 21-41 prior to arriving at Avondale.

Carlisle's offense did not produce in Auburn Hills as it did in Imlay City and in Vassar. The Yellow Jackets scored above 20 points once all season and that was against Pontiac in a 34-14 win in Auburn Hills. Avondale was blown out in almost every game this season with their closest defeat coming against Carleton Airport falling 24-15 in week nine. The defense really struggled allowing 326 points which was 36 points per game.

It will be very interesting to see who takes over the Yellow Jackets next season with the lack of program stability as for some this will be their third coach in three years and the fourth coach in five years.

Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
