Addressing The Unthinkable.

Written Thursday December 2nd at 4:05 PM

Tuesday was a very difficult day for everyone throughout Oakland County, in Michigan, and especially in Oxford.

A 15 year old sophomore shooter went on a shooting rampage killing four people and injuring seven others at Oxford on Tuesday.

Three of the four students that lost their lives were student-athletes.

I knew two of them personally.

Tate Myre was the first one I knew. He was junior at the school and I knew him along with the Myre family since their youth football days. Myre was not only a very special football player but he was also an all-state wrestler. Myre was on varsity as a freshman playing defensive back for then coach Bud Rowley and played some running back. Under current coach Zach Line he was a linebacker and moved to tight end during his sophomore season. Myre was very instrumental in the Wildcats turnaround and shocking postseason run. He was a leader not just in football but the entire community as a whole. Myre followed and looked up to his brothers. He was a great person and role model for people to follow.

The other one I knew was Hana St. Juliana. She was a freshman at the school. St Juliana was a multi-sport athlete. She played freshmen volleyball and was ready to play freshman girls basketball this season. She was with Coach Rachel Bryer’s program since the sixth grade. In her spare time she was a very talented cook and was always there to volunteer her time. St. Juliana was the ultimate teammate and a kind person.

The other two that lost their lives were Justin Shilling whom was a co-captain of the Oxford bowling team and Madisyn Baldwin whom was an artist and writer. She recently transferred into Oxford this school year. I did not know them that well but I've heard great things about them.

These four students will never be forgotten ever.

I’ve been hearing about several potions that are out to name certain things in their memory. Myre with the stadium. The library for St. Juliana and the performance and arts area for Baldwin.

Knowing the community of Oxford. This is tight knit and tough community. Oxford has always taken pride in being Oxford Tough and Oxford Strong.

It will be very important for the Oxford community to continue to stay together and for the surrounding communities to keep supporting the Oxford community in their time of need.
