It’s a rematch that will take place.

The Eagles earned a 68-55 victory over a very good Pontiac Notre Dame Prep program on Tuesday night in the Division Two State Quarterfinals at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron.

Jason Drake had 33 points while Chris Williams added 13 points, and Treyvon Lewis had 11 points for Ferndale. The Eagles were tied with the Fighting Irish at 43-43 heading into the fourth quarter.

Ferndale gets their rematch with the defending Division Two State Champs Grand Rapids Catholic Central at 5:30 PM on Friday night at the Breslin Center in East Lansing in the Division Two State Semifinals.

The Cougars are ranked number two in Division Two. The other matchup features two 25-0 teams in top ranked Williamston and third ranked Freeland playing at 7:30 PM. The winners will meet for the Division Two State title on Saturday at approximately 7:30 PM.

The Cougars beat the Eagles 81-55 in the Division Two State Semifinals at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids thanks in large part to a 28-0 third quarter run that broke the game wide open last season.

Ferndale comes in at 21-3 on the season. They'll have to deal with Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s balance. The Cougars come in with a 24-1 record with their only loss coming to Flint Beecher (75-69 on January 8th.) Kaden Brown had 23 points, Durral Brooks 18 points, Jack Karasinski 14 points, JaJuan Walker 14 points, and Jorden Brooks had nine points in an 86-60 win over Benton Harbor in the State Quarterfinals at Calvin College.

Brown had 23 points, Jorden Brooks had 20 points, Karasinski had 19 points, and Durral Brooks had eight points in last season’s matchup.

The Cougars are well coached under Coach TJ Merriman. The Eagles of course are well coached under Coach Juan Rickman.

Drake led the Eagles with 27 points but Grand Rapids Catholic Central held Drake to zero fourth quarter points. The Cougars held Lewis to eight points in the last meeting.

Lewis and Karasinski were finalists for Mr. Basketball in the State of Michigan this season.

This should be a very interesting matchup between these two teams. Expect this one to be tight and a battle throughout at the Breslin Center in the Division Two State Semifinals.
