West Bloomfield: The Lakers started the season on a high note winning 47-7 at Wayne State over Sterling Heights Stevenson on Thursday night. West Bloomfield is rolling on all cylinders. They have Harper Woods in the Swamp next week.
Adams: The Highlanders started their season on a high note winning 42-14 over Orchard Lake St. Marys on Thursday night. Adams has Rochester looming next week.
Clarkston: I wouldn’t press the panic button on the Wolves despite falling 28-21 at Michigan Stadium to Davison on Thursday night. It went back and forth. Clarkston will be fine. They have Southfield Arts and Tech looming next week.
Lake Orion: I wouldn’t press the panic button on the Dragons despite falling 34-17 at Sweinhart Field to Utica Eisenhower. The Eagles are a solid team. Two plays were the difference in the game. Lake Orion will be fine. They have Oak Park looming next week.
Stoney Creek: Can’t say much about the Cougars with a 70-0 win over Detroit Mumford. Stoney Creek should be tested next week against Bloomfield Hills.
Oxford: The Wildcats had a rough second half falling 34-7 to Romeo at Dan Barnabo Field on Thursday night. It was going to be a tall order for Oxford. The Wildcats will be fine. They have Groves looming at Wildcat Stadium next week.
Southfield Arts and Tech: The Warriors were in a tight game with Detroit Cass Tech on Thursday night (trailed 26-24 in the second quarter) but fans in the stands at Lawrence Tech got into fights which caused the game to be postponed. On Saturday afternoon at Southfield Arts and Tech, the Warriors behind Isiah Marshall's eight touchdowns (six passing, two rushing) stunned the Technicians 56-54 in overtime. This is a huge win for the Warriors. Southfield Arts and Tech heads to Clarkston next week.
Harper Woods: Can’t say much about the Pioneers, not their fault with what happened with Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy but they have a tough one looming next week in the Swamp.
Groves: The Falcons sent a statement that last season was a memory when they got their revenge on North Farmington winning 34-19 on Thursday night. Groves has a very tough game looming when they head to Oxford next week for a prime time game on Bally Sports Detroit.
Rochester: I was very disappointed with the Falcons on Thursday night. They were held to three points in the second half and fell 27-24 on their home field to Utica. Rochester gave up a touchdown on the final play of the game which hurt. Grant Calcagno had three touchdowns. The Falcons have a daunting task looming with Adams next week.
Bloomfield Hills: I knew it was going to be tough for the Blackhawks on Thursday night against Seaholm but the lack of depth cost them in their 38-21 loss to the Maples. Bloomfield Hills has a tough matchup looming with Stoney Creek next week.
Oak Park: It was a tough night for the Knights on Thursday night against arch rival Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit in Knight Valley. Oak Park fell 20-0 to the Cubs. The Knights have Lake Orion on the road next week.
Seaholm: The Maples sent a statement on Thursday night. Seaholm went into Bloomfield Hills and won 38-21 behind a very strong second half. The Maples will be tested next week against a very good Detroit University-Detroit program whom shut out Oak Park last week.
North Farmington: The Raiders lost a tough one to Groves on Thursday night 34-19. Ryan Shelby is out which is a big deal right now. North Farmington needs to address some things especially defensively. They have a tough one looming with Caledonia next week.
Farmington: I was shocked when I saw this score 20-14 to Ypsilanti Lincoln. The Railsplitters did just enough to shut down Dominic Peshi and the Falcons offense. Farmington has some work to do when they head to Royal Oak next week.
Troy: I wasn’t really impressed with the Colts on Thursday night despite winning 14-3 over Macomb L’Anse Creuse North. They shouldn’t be tested too much when they play Detroit Mumford next week.
Troy Athens: The Red Hawks made a statement by going into Macomb County and beating Fraser 28-21 on Thursday night. It’s a nice way to start the Tom Cook era at Troy Athens. The Red Hawks have Berkley looming next week.
Berkley: I’m just absolutely embarrassed to see this score, 47-0??? What happened??? I know that Milan is very good but I couldn’t believe the score. The Bears better change some things soon especially with Troy Athens looming next week.
Avondale: The Yellow Jackets beat Warren Cousino 36-6 on Thursday night. Avondale looks to be in the drivers seat in the division right now. The Yellow Jackets have a tough matchup looming with Holly next week.
Royal Oak: Ah what happened against Holly, Ravens??? 49-0. Even though it was on the road and on grass, that is stunning to say the least. Royal Oak has a new system but it’s going to take time. I didn’t expect it to be that type of struggle for the Ravens. Royal Oak has Farmington looming next week.
Pontiac: It was going to be tough for the Phoenix on Thursday night. Pontiac had no chance against Madison Heights Bishop Foley falling 57-12. I GUARANTEE NEXT WEEK THE LOSING STREAK ENDS FOR PONTIAC.
Ferndale: The Eagles lost a tough one to Macomb L’Anse Creuse 27-26 on Thursday night. On the bright side, Ferndale is better. They will be fine going forward but they have a tough one looming with Grand Rapids West Catholic next week.
