Royal Oak Schools placed Coach Dustyn Truitt on administrative leave on Thursday while an investigation is currently ongoing.
According to numerous media reports, it is said that Truitt used inappropriate comments like swearing while addressing players.
"We are currently investigating allegations of inappropriate language when addressing and working with players and leading the team within a negative environment. These allegations are being thoroughly reviewed by me and fellow administrators. We take these reports very seriously. We commend our student-athletes for bringing this to our attention. We have a focused interest in promoting the highest standards for conduct and all. I would like to assure our parents and athletes that these allegations no way align with our core values as an athletic program" said Royal Oak Athletic Director Brian Gordon in a statement to Royal Oak varsity players and families.
Truitt whom is a middle school physical education teacher was named the new head coach at Royal Oak in February taking over for Coach Ray McMann.
Junior Varsity Coach Collin Campbell was named the interim coach while Truitt is on administrative leave for their final three games. Royal Oak lost all three games by a combined 129-0.
There is always two sides of the story. We have not heard Truitt's side of the story yet.
The Ravens finished the season at 1-8. They have made the playoffs only twice. Royal Oak is 34-107 since 2006. According to the MHSAA website, they have not put Truitt's name on their head coaches list which means that Royal Oak is looking for a new head coach.
