The Wolves were dominant in the Division One State Quarterfinals winning over Macomb L'Anse Creuse North in three sets 25-17, 25-21, and 25-11 at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron.
Cayla Cogan had 12 kills for Clarkston. Cogan tore her ACL last season in the loss to Birmingham Marian. Addison Newblatt had 10 kills and Marlee Smith and Isabelle Henry had five kills for the Wolves.
Clarkston was dominant all night and had multiple players go off and they played very well all night.
The Wolves move onto the Division One State Semifinals and play Farmington Hills Mercy on Friday. Battle Creek has been no strangers to Clarkston. They made the Semifinals in 2012 falling to Lake Orion and in 2020 when they fell to Birmingham Marian.
It will be the first State Semifinal appearance as head coach for Coach Alison Smith. Legendary coach Kelly Pinner was the Wolves coach for their two recent appearances. Smith was an assistant in 2020 when they went to the Final Four.
If Clarkston wins they will either play Northville or Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern. If the Wolves play the Mustangs it would be a rematch from a regular season meeting that was won by Northville at Clarkston early in the season.
We'll see what happens.
