Here is my Top 23 for boys and girls basketball.
Girls
1. West Bloomfield (15-1): When you beat Detroit Edison that says something.
2. Clarkston (11-6): Maddie Skroupski is riding high into the postseason.
3. Stoney Creek (13-5): When you beat Grosse Pointe North on the road that’s impressive.
4. Rochester (15-3): Falcons are riding a ton of confidence right now.
5. Lake Orion (15-3): Dragons are finding different ways to win games.
6. Oxford (10-5): Allison Hufstedler has really been impressive for the Wildcats.
7. Troy (7-10): Welcome back Alyssa Matuza.
8. Berkley (9-8): Bears have lost three straight, that’s a concern heading into the postseason.
9. North Farmington (10-7): Raiders haven’t played in a week.
10. Adams (6-10): Don’t look now, the Highlanders have won three straight.
11. Groves (9-7): Kaitlyn Sanders is the wildcard heading into the postseason.
12. Seaholm (13-4): The road to the Blue goes through Wayne County.
13. Harper Woods (16-1): Pioneers control their own destiny.
14. Farmington (9-7): Autumn Bartlett has really stood out for the Falcons.
15. Troy Athens (5-13): Red Hawks are a resilient group.
16. Ferndale University (8-6): Eagles are in a very interesting spot heading into the postseason.
17. Avondale (6-10): Don’t know why the Yellow Jackets forfeited their game with Harper Woods.
18. Southfield Arts and Tech (5-12): Warriors have a tough final three games looming before the postseason.
19. Bloomfield Hills (3-13): Blackhawks have been playing well despite the record.
20. Royal Oak (2-16): Reagan Blackwell has really played well for the Ravens.
21. Pontiac (4-9): Phoenix are hot and cold right now.
22. Oak Park (2-11): Knights need to play more games and quick.
23. Ferndale (0-14): Eagles really struggling.
Boys
1. Ferndale (12-3): Eagles win over Brother Rice should get them ready for the postseason.
2. Oak Park (12-3): Bwanda Miller might be the most underappreciated player on the Knights.
3. North Farmington (13-3): Landon Williams might be the Raiders most important player heading into the postseason.
4. Adams (9-7): Gunner Walters and Justice Mims have really been putting up numbers lately for the Highlanders.
5. Clarkston (10-6): Wolves really miss Keegan Waslik right now.
6. Lake Orion (11-5): CJ Witt has started to put up some numbers lately.
7. Bloomfield Hills (12-4): Good teams will have bad shooting nights, its part of the game.
8. Groves (10-5): Falcons have been really improving during the final weeks of the season.
9. Troy (9-8): Colts are all of a sudden starting to peak at the right time.
10. Royal Oak (9-6): The road in the Gold goes through Lexington Blvd.
11. Seaholm (7-10): How does the Maples lead the Blue again???
12. Rochester (10-5): Falcons are quietly getting healthy again.
13. Troy Athens (8-8): Red Hawks have won four of five.
14. Berkley (11-6): I’ve seen this before with the Bears.
15. Oxford (7-10): Wildcats are 2-4 in February, that’s not good.
16. Stoney Creek (6-11): Cougars are 1-4 in February, that’s not good.
17. Harper Woods (7-9): Pioneers are getting used to life in the OAA.
18. Ferndale University (5-9): Eagles have quietly been improving.
19. Avondale (5-10): Yellow Jackets have been a hard team to figure out.
20. West Bloomfield (3-13): It’s been a struggle for the Lakers.
21. Pontiac (1-6): Davion Hall is basically the Phoenix right now.
22. Southfield Arts and Tech (4-13): Warriors are a Jekyll and Hyde team.
23. Farmington (2-14): Falcons are just outmatched in the Red.
