1. Adams at Sterling Heights Stevenson: It has been a very odd season for the Titans. Sterling Heights Stevenson had to replace a ton of talent from last season’s Division One State Semifinal team but I didn’t expect them to be this rough. They had lost five straight until beating Fraser 55-7 last week. The Titans have a really tall task against a Highlanders team that is rolling on all cylinders. Parker Picot, Tait Picot, and company are on a mission right now. It could be a long night at Runkel Field.
SANDY DUNES: ADAMS 56, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 0.
BURNEY: ADAMS 38, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 19.
DUNLAP: ADAMS 31, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 17.
TIM: ADAMS 42, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 10,
STICK: ADAMS over STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON.
COTTER: ADAMS 31, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 14.
Utica Eisenhower at 2. West Bloomfield: Both the Lakers and Eagles have had really good seasons thus far. Utica Eisenhower was humiliated 42-24 by West Bloomfield last season at Sweinhart Field. The Lakers have not had Requan Nance for a few weeks with a finger injury but he was in uniform despite not playing against Southfield Arts and Tech. Kenny Jones and Semaj Morgan has been playing outstanding football but Morgan is suspended for this game after being ejected in their 42-28 win over Southfield Arts and Tech last week. I will be very curious to see how West Bloomfield handles Preston Crumm in the Swamp.
SANDY DUNES: WEST BLOOMFIELD 35, UTICA EISENHOWER 14.
BURNEY: WEST BLOOMFIELD 31, UTICA EISENHOWER 23.
DUNLAP: WEST BLOOMFIELD 34, UTICA EISENHOWER 23.
TIM: WEST BLOOMFIELD 32, UTICA EISENHOWER 20.
STICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD over UTICA EISENHOWER.
COTTER: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42 UTICA EISENHOWER 21.
3. Clarkston at Oak Park: These are two teams that are heading in opposite directions. It has been a struggle for the Knights. Oak Park has always played one of the toughest schedules in the State. They sit at 0-8 and this is another difficult matchup for them. The Wolves played their most complete game in a 48-13 blowout of Lapeer last week. Clarkston surprisingly started Zak Kossak at quarterback but he really hasn’t had to do much with a ton of the attention focused being on Ethan Clark. Desman Stephens broke the Wolves single season record with his ninth pick last week against the Lightning. This looks like a complete mismatch on paper but that’s why they play the game.
SANDY DUNES: CLARKSTON 56, OAK PARK 12.
BURNEY: CLARKSTON 35, OAK PARK 22.
DUNLAP: CLARKSTON 42, OAK PARK 6.
TIM: CLARKSTON 42, OAK PARK 14.
STICK: CLARKSTON over OAK PARK.
COTTER: CLARKSTON 45, OAK PARK 6.
River Rouge at 4. Southfield Arts and Tech: The Warriors and Panthers are no strangers to each other. They had a classic last season with River Rouge winning 45-44. The Panthers have won three straight over Southfield Arts and Tech. The Warriors fell 42-28 to West Bloomfield last week. Now postseason dreams aren’t on the line in this game but this is a must win game for Southfield Arts and Tech just for confidence sakes.
SANDY DUNES: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 53, RIVER ROUGE 50.
BURNEY: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 38, RIVER ROUGE 36.
DUNLAP: RIVER ROUGE 42, SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 38.
TIM: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 31, RIVER ROUGE 30.
STICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH over RIVER ROUGE.
COTTER: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 28, RIVER ROUGE 26.
Utica at 5. Farmington: The Falcons are coming off an emotional 39-21 win over Seaholm in which they outscored the Maples 32-7 in the second half and sharing the Blue crown with Seaholm. Utica has lost seven straight since their last second touchdown to beat Rochester 27-24 in week one. Farmington rides Dominic Peshi, Cam Pettaway, and Keshawn Wilson into this game. This game should be very interesting on Farmington TV-10 this week.
SANDY DUNES: FARMINGTON 42, UTICA 0.
BURNEY: FARMINGTON 34, UTICA 27.
DUNLAP: UTICA 21, FARMINGTON 20.
TIM: FARMINGTON 42, UTICA 7.
STICK: UTICA over FARMINGTON.
COTTER: FARMINGTON 21, UTICA 14.
6. Seaholm at 7. Groves: This is a very interesting game that has so many subplots. The Falcons are 8-2 in their last 10 games against the Maples. Seaholm is coming off a very tough 39-21 loss to Farmington last week. Groves blew out Berkley 56-7 last week. These two teams know each other quite well. It should be a good game in Beverly Hills and they could also meet in the postseason as well.
SANDY DUNES: SEAHOLM 35, GROVES 31.
BURNEY: SEAHOLM 30, GROVES 28.
DUNLAP: SEAHOLM 27, GROVES 17.
TIM: SEAHOLM 42, GROVES 14.
STICK: GROVES over SEAHOLM.
COTTER: GROVES 35, SEAHOLM 21.
Fraser at 8. Troy: The Colts are riding with a ton of confidence coming into this game. Troy earned a 27-6 victory over arch rival Troy Athens last week. They play a Fraser program that has not been the same program since they beat Sterling Heights 13-8 in week three. The Ramblers have not been competitive since that game. The Colts defense has been outstanding. This should be an interesting game especially with Fraser coming in with nothing to lose.
SANDY DUNES: TROY 28, FRASER 7.
BURNEY: TROY 38, FRASER 27.
DUNLAP: TROY 28, FRASER 14.
TIM: TROY 20, FRASER 3.
STICK: TROY over FRASER.
COTTER: TROY 37, FRASER 14.
Saline at 9. Lake Orion: This is a rematch of a 34-21 Saline win over Lake Orion last season but this time the Hornets make the trip from Washtenaw County into northern Oakland County. Saline has a really good quarterback in Notre Dame commit C.J. Carr. The Hornets have lost their last two games by a combined 14 points. The Dragons have played a very challenging schedule but have managed to go along with their business. Lake Orion has won one home game which is very unusual this season. If the Dragons win this game they are in the postseason with that tough schedule. This should be a very good game on Stadium Drive this week.
SANDY DUNES: LAKE ORION 38, SALINE 28.
BURNEY: LAKE ORION 24, SALINE 22.
DUNLAP: SALINE 31, LAKE ORION 27.
TIM: SALINE 32, LAKE ORION 17.
STICK: LAKE ORION over SALINE.
COTTER: LAKE ORION 38, SALINE 35.
New Baltimore Anchor Bay at 10. Stoney Creek: This is shaping up to be a must win game for both teams and they also need a bit of help. The Cougars are in better shape when it comes to the postseason than the Tars. New Baltimore Anchor Bay fell 21-3 to Roseville last week. Stoney Creek earned a 43-22 win over Rochester last week. This should be a good game on Tienken and Sheldon Roads.
SANDY DUNES: STONEY CREEK 28, NEW BALTIMORE ANCHOR BAY 21.
BURNEY: STONEY CREEK 29, NEW BALTIMORE ANCHOR BAY 28.
DUNLAP: NEW BALTIMORE ANCHOR BAY 24, STONEY CREEK 20.
TIM: STONEY CREEK 27, NEW BALTIMORE ANCHOR BAY 24.
STICK: STONEY CREEK over NEW BALTIMORE ANCHOR BAY.
COTTER: STONEY CREEK 21, NEW BALTIMORE ANCHOR BAY 14.
Oxford at Chippewa Valley: This is a rematch of a classic 29-28 Wildcats victory on the Blue turf last season. That win got Oxford into the postseason but things are different now. The Wildcats are really struggling offensively. They have scored 23 total points in the last five weeks. The Big Reds have been playing around 500 in the past month but they play in the always tough Macomb Area Red Division. It’s going to be a really tough matchup for the Wildcats this week.
SANDY DUNES: CHIPPEWA VALLEY 52, OXFORD 3.
BURNEY: CHIPPEWA VALLEY 39, OXFORD 26.
DUNLAP: CHIPPEWA VALLEY 38, OXFORD 10.
TIM: CHIPPEWA VALLEY 42, OXFORD 0.
STICK: CHIPPEWA VALLEY over OXFORD.
COTTER: CHIPPEWA VALLEY 38, OXFORD 3.
Harper Woods at Roseville: It has been a rough first year in the OAA for the Pioneers. Harper Woods likely won’t be in the postseason after being there for four years straight will have a really tough task ahead of them when they travel to Roseville to take on the Panthers. Roseville has won three straight games including a 21-3 over New Baltimore Anchor Bay last week. It will be a tough task as mentioned for the Pioneers but knowing Coach Rob Oden he will have his team ready to play.
SANDY DUNES: ROSEVILLE 27, HARPER WOODS 20.
BURNEY: ROSEVILLE 34, HARPER WOODS 28.
DUNLAP: HARPER WOODS 25, ROSEVILLE 20.
TIM: HARPER WOODS 30, ROSEVILLE 14.
STICK: HARPER WOODS over ROSEVILLE.
COTTER: ROSEVILLE 21, HARPER WOODS 12.
Rochester at Detroit Renaissance: This should be a very interesting matchup of two teams trying to get to the postseason. The Falcons had won three straight until falling 43-22 to Stoney Creek last week. The Phoenix have won four of five including the last two weeks where they have outscored their opponents 61-15. This is a trap game for Rochester traveling to Detroit to take on an improving Detroit Renaissance program.
SANDY DUNES: ROCHESTER 21, DETROIT RENAISSANCE 18.
BURNEY: ROCHESTER 28, DETROIT RENAISSANCE 25.
DUNLAP: ROCHESTER 35, DETROIT RENAISSANCE 14.
TIM: ROCHESTER 35, DETROIT RENAISSANCE 17.
STICK: ROCHESTER over DETROIT RENAISSANCE.
COTTER: ROCHESTER 35, DETROIT RENAISSANCE 6.
Bloomfield Hills at North Farmington: It’s has been very disappointing for both teams this season heading into North Farmington’s homecoming. The Raiders have lost 12 of their last 14 games which is mindboggling. The Blackhawks have really struggled all season but they did beat Oxford 7-3 last week. It’s an interesting quarterback matchup between Ryan Shelby and CJ Jackson. Farmington TV-10 should be all over this game at Ron Holland Field.
SANDY DUNES: NORTH FARMINGTON 27, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 14.
BURNEY: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 34, NORTH FARMINGTON 32.
DUNLAP: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 23, NORTH FARMINGTON 22.
TIM: NORTH FARMINGTON 21, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 10.
STICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS over NORTH FARMINGTON.
COTTER: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 24, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.
Utica Ford II at Troy Athens: The Red Hawks postseason hopes took a hit with a loss to arch rival Troy last week. Troy Athens has a chance to close the season strong with a win over Utica Ford II. The Falcons are 16-44 since 2016. This is a must win game for the Red Hawks to keep building their program heading into next season.
SANDY DUNES: TROY ATHENS 35, UTICA FORD II 7.
BURNEY: TROY ATHENS 39, UTICA FORD II 23.
DUNLAP: TROY ATHENS 17, UTICA FORD II 10.
TIM: TROY ATHENS 20, UTICA FORD II 17.
STICK: TROY ATHENS over UTICA FORD II.
COTTER: TROY ATHENS 28, UTICA FORD II 14.
Ferndale at St. Clair Shores Lake Shore: This is a big game for both teams if they want to see any hope of the postseason. The Eagles need to win this game and get some help. The same for the Shorians whom have lost three of their last four games. These two teams aren’t familiar with one another but it should be a good game to say the least.
SANDY DUNES: FERNDALE 28, ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKE SHORE 21.
BURNEY: FERNDALE 26, ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKE SHORE 13.
DUNLAP: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKE SHORE 26, FERNDALE 20.
TIM: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKE SHORE 24, FERNDALE 17.
STICK: FERNDALE over ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKE SHORE.
COTTER: FERNDALE 21, ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKE SHORE 14.
Garden City at Pontiac: Could this be the game that the Phoenix snap the State’s longest losing streak??? It will be a challenge for Pontiac taking on a Garden City program that is having its best season since 2019. The Cougars have won three of their last four games which included a 34-28 overtime win over Dearborn Heights Robichaud last week. It will be a tough matchup for the Phoenix to say the least but it’s at home for Pontiac.
SANDY DUNES: PONTIAC 21, GARDEN CITY 20.
BURNEY: PONTIAC 27, GARDEN CITY 23.
DUNLAP: GARDEN CITY 31, PONTIAC 6.
TIM: GARDEN CITY 28, PONTIAC 7.
STICK: GARDEN CITY over PONTIAC.
COTTER: GARDEN CITY 35, PONTIAC 20.
Avondale at Warren Fitzgerald: The Yellow Jackets have been riding with a ton of confidence since beating North Farmington 27-24 two weeks ago. Avondale won 42-0 over Royal Oak last week. They are very familiar with the city of Warren as they beat Warren Cousino in week one. The Spartans have really struggled this season. They have been outscored 109-26 in the last two weeks. The Yellow Jackets should be fine in this matchup.
SANDY DUNES: AVONDALE 49, WARREN FITZGERALD 7.
BURNEY: AVONDALE 32, WARREN FITZGERALD 24.
DUNLAP: AVONDALE 23, WARREN FITZGERALD 20.
TIM: AVONDALE 28, WARREN FITZGERALD 17.
STICK: AVONDALE over WARREN FITZGERALD.
COTTER: AVONDALE 28, WARREN FITZGERALD 21.
St. Clair Shores Lakeview at Berkley: It has been a very disappointing season for the Bears which they had high expectations. St. Clair Shores Lakeview has been rolling behind their well known Wing T offense. The Huskies have won four of five coming into this game. This will be a tough matchup for sure for the Bears at Hurley Field.
SANDY DUNES: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 49, BERKLEY 0.
BURNEY: BERKLEY 25, ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 23.
DUNLAP: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 21, BERKLEY 14.
TIM: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 30, BERKLEY 10.
STICK: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW over BERKLEY.
COTTER: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 42, BERKLEY 7.
Royal Oak at Madison Heights Lamphere: It has been a nightmare few weeks for the Ravens. Royal Oak has been outscored 104-7 in the last three weeks and has been in turmoil as well. The Rams are riding with a ton of confidence after winning three of their last four games including a 62-0 blowout win of Clawson. It hasn’t been the greatest for the Ravens but if they can win this game and go out on top it would be a positive.
SANDY DUNES: MADISON HEIGHTS LAMPHERE 42, ROYAL OAK 0.
BURNEY: MADISON HEIGHTS LAMPHERE 24, ROYAL OAK 14.
DUNLAP: MADISON HEIGHTS LAMPHERE 21, ROYAL OAK 19.
TIM: MADISON HEIGHTS LAMPHERE 35, ROYAL OAK 7.
STICK: MADISON HEIGHTS LAMPHERE over ROYAL OAK.
COTTER: MADISON HEIGHTS LAMPHERE 28, ROYAL OAK 7.
