Welcome to the 2023 football season, here are our pickers for the season. Here are everyone who is doing picks this season.

SANDY DUNES is Sammy Taormina, OAA Now host and blogger.

COTTER is Sean Cotter, Walled Lake Western football and North Farmington boys basketball video coordinator

DUNLAP is Keith Dunlap, WDIV freelance writer

STICK is Dan Stickradt, North Oakland Sports writer

BURNEY is Scott Burnstein, MIPrepZone and State Champs sports writer.

TIM is Tim English, High School Sports Historian and Blogger.

SANDY DUNES 23-11

COTTER 28-6

BURNEY 23-11

DUNLAP 22-12

STICK 25-9

TIM 25-9

We'll get TIM's picks when we can.

9. Stoney Creek at 1. West Bloomfield: The home opener of the Coach Zach Hilbers era for the Lakers is upon us. West Bloomfield looked very impressive in their 41-19 win over Groves last week. The Cougars exploded for 57 points in their win over Bloomfield Hills. This should be a very interesting matchup of two different styles.

SANDY DUNES: WEST BLOOMFIELD 28, STONEY CREEK 14.

COTTER: WEST BLOOMFIELD 45, STONEY CREEK 14.

DUNLAP: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42, STONEY CREEK 7.

STICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD over STONEY CREEK.

BURNEY: WEST BLOOMFIELD 33, STONEY CREEK 18.

TIM: WEST BLOOMFIELD 52, STONEY CREEK 18.

6. Harper Woods at 2. Southfield Arts and Tech: This is a big game for both teams and especially for the Pioneers after falling 28-6 to Lake Orion last week. The Warriors have won both games by a combined five points but they struggled against a stout Clarkston defense despite winning 20-17 over the Wolves. This should be a fun one with plenty of Division One College prospects but the most physical team should win this game.

SANDY DUNES: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 38, HARPER WOODS 32.

COTTER: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 30, HARPER WOODS 6.

DUNLAP: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 31, HARPER WOODS 21.

STICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH over HARPER WOODS.

BURNEY: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 36, HARPER WOODS 23.

TIM: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 35, HARPER WOODS 14.

7. Oxford at 3. Lake Orion: The Wildcats bounced back in shutting Oak Park out 37-0 last week. They will be tested by a Dragons team that offensively has scored 82 points in two weeks. Lake Orion is an offensive machine which should test Oxford in this game. The road team has won this game since 2017 which makes this Double O Trophy game the most interesting.

SANDY DUNES: LAKE ORION 34, OXFORD 14.

COTTER: LAKE ORION 35, OXFORD 14.

DUNLAP: LAKE ORION 31, OXFORD 14.

STICK: LAKE ORION over OXFORD.

BURNEY: LAKE ORION 31, OXFORD 19.

TIM: LAKE ORION 28, OXFORD 21.

4. Adams at 10. Clarkston: This is a big game for both teams. Is the Highlanders for real or not??? The Wolves played better despite the 0-2 start. Both teams have talented players in Blake Kosin, Desman Stephens for Clarkston and Brady Prieskorn for Adams. Which sophomore quarterback rises up should win this game on Flemings Lake Road.

SANDY DUNES: CLARKSTON 24, ADAMS 17.

COTTER: ADAMS 21, CLARKSTON 14.

DUNLAP: CLARKSTON 23, ADAMS 20.

STICK: ADAMS over CLARKSTON.

BURNEY: ADAMS 30, CLARKSTON 27.

TIM: ADAMS 35, CLARKSTON 28.

5. Avondale at Berkley: This is a very interesting game of two teams going in opposite directions. The Yellow Jackets picked up an emotional 17-14 win in Ortonville last week while the Bears have been outscored 77-0 in the last two weeks. This looks like a complete mismatch on paper at Hurley Field.

SANDY DUNES: AVONDALE 24, BERKLEY 0.

COTTER: AVONDALE 49, BERKLEY 0.

DUNLAP: AVONDALE 20, BERKLEY 17.

STICK: AVONDALE over BERKLEY.

BURNEY: AVONDALE 31, BERKLEY 20.

TIM: AVONDALE 56, BERKLEY 0.

Farmington at Groves: The battle of the Falcons is this week and both teams are coming off losses to two very good teams. Groves has the experience on paper but don’t count Farmington out. This could be a sneaky good game in Beverly Hills.

SANDY DUNES: GROVES 28, FARMINGTON 24.

COTTER: GROVES 33, FARMINGTON 12.

DUNLAP: GROVES 28, FARMINGTON 10.

STICK: GROVES over FARMINGTON.

BURNEY: GROVES 42, FARMINGTON 22.

TIM: GROVES 35, FARMINGTON 14.

Rochester at Bloomfield Hills: This is a big game for both teams. Both teams are looking for a win after blowout losses. The Falcons fell 35-0 to Adams while the Blackhawks fell 57-7 to Stoney Creek last week. At least someone will get a win this week.

SANDY DUNES: ROCHESTER 20, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 14.

COTTER: ROCHESTER 35, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7.

DUNLAP: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 27, ROCHESTER 20.

STICK: ROCHESTER over BLOOMFIELD HILLS.

BURNEY: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 29, ROCHESTER 28.

TIM: ROCHESTER 49, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7.

North Farmington at Seaholm: This is a very interesting matchup between two teams that are coming off of losses. The Raiders have scored 10 points and allowed 78 points which is un Coach Jon Herstein like. The Maples are coming off a tough loss 28-10 loss to Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit last week. This is a make or break game for both teams if they want to make some noise in the Blue.

SANDY DUNES: SEAHOLM 34, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.

COTTER: SEAHOLM 24, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.

DUNLAP: SEAHOLM 21, NORTH FARMINGTON 10.

STICK: SEAHOLM over NORTH FARMINGTON.

BURNEY: SEAHOLM 25, NORTH FARMINGTON 17.

TIM: SEAHOLM 35, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.

Royal Oak at Troy: The Colts have not been battle tested. The stats really DON’T tell the story when describing Troy. The numbers look good but the quality of competition has not been good. The Ravens got their first win under new Coach Collin Campbell winning 7-6 over Taylor last week. This does not look good on paper for Royal Oak but also for Troy either when it comes to a competitive standpoint.

SANDY DUNES: TROY 24, ROYAL OAK 0.

COTTER: TROY 31, ROYAL OAK 0.

DUNLAP: TROY 35, ROYAL OAK 0.

STICK: TROY over ROYAL OAK.

BURNEY: TROY 34, ROYAL OAK 24.

TIM: TROY 63, ROYAL OAK 3.

Troy Athens at Oak Park: The Red Hawks bounced back after falling to Fraser in week one by beating Berkley 35-0. The Knights have scored 14 points in two weeks which is not very good. This could be a very interesting game in Knight Valley between two teams that are trying to find themselves.

SANDY DUNES: TROY ATHENS 24, OAK PARK 12.

COTTER: OAK PARK 26, TROY ATHENS 14.

DUNLAP: TROY ATHENS 10, OAK PARK 7.

STICK: OAK PARK over TROY ATHENS.

BURNEY: TROY ATHENS 32, OAK PARK 21.

TIM: TROY ATHENS 42, OAK PARK 7.
