The Eagles have their new varsity football coach.
Ferndale named Donovan Jackson as their new coach. He takes over for Coach Erik Royal who stepped down in the offseason.
The move was confirmed by The D-Zone.
The Eagles lost a ton of senior leadership after making the postseason in Royal's final season with the program. They lost in the first round to Groves.
Jackson is a Ferndale Alum, having graduated in 2012. According to Maxpreps, he was the running back and defensive back for the Eagles. He also played at Detroit Loyola as well. He was an assistant at Detroit Cass Tech when they won the Division One State Championship last season.
Jackson will have a big challenge ahead of him at Ferndale, replacing a ton of talent and building program strength. It will be very interesting to see what Jackson brings to the Eagles. Also there has to be a transition period and it has to happen during the season.
Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
