AROUND THE OAA TOP TEN-WEEK TWO.

Here are the rankings.

1. Clarkston: Any time you go and make a statement like the Wolves did on Thursday afternoon at Wayne State against Belleville. This wasn't even close, Clarkston hammered Belleville on both sides of the football in a dominating 38-7 win over the Tigers. The Wolves defense was also really impressive as well silencing me for a week. There is a reason why they gained the top spot in the poll this week.

2. Adams: The Highlanders were really impressive in a 39-7 win over Romeo behind a dominant defense which only allowed seven points. Ryland Watters came back and was dominant. If the Highlanders keep on doing this they will only get better going forward.

3. Harper Woods: The Pioneers were dominant against Redford Union beating the Panthers for the third time in two years 40-0. Harper Woods has a lot of experience and is improving each week, we'll know a lot about the Pioneers when they head to Clarkston to take on the Wolves.

4. West Bloomfield: The Lakers were impressive against a very young Dearborn Fordson squad winning 37-0 in the Swamp. Will Espy has impressed me thus far on both sides of the football. We'll know a lot about West Bloomfield when Adams comes to the Swamp next week.

5. Oxford: The Wildcats were not too impressive in the first half against Hartland opening up their new blue turf field on Friday night but behind Jack Hendrix, Oxford held the Eagles scoreless in the second half winning 23-7. The Wildcats have a huge test awaiting them when they head to Beverly Hills to play the Falcons this week.

6. Stoney Creek: The Cougars scored 42 points in their home opener against a decent Warren Cousino squad on Thursday night. Stoney Creek has balance offensively but they like to run the football behind their stout offensive line. The defense has some concerns allowing 28 points against the Patriots. It should be very interesting when Coach Rick Powell makes his return to Dragon Country on Friday night.

7. Rochester: The Falcons were impressive in a 34-0 win over Fraser on Thursday night. We'll know a lot about Rochester when they play Adams on Friday night. The Falcons have not beaten the Highlanders since 1996.

8: Lake Orion: The Dragons had a tough 14-13 loss to Northville on Thursday night at Wayne State falling to 0-4 at the event. Lake Orion's defense played really well against the Mustangs but the offense had some struggles. James Bambard had a strong game for the Dragons but they need Anderson Adams to step up if they want to make some noise this season. Friday night is a must win game for Lake Orion to get back on track.

9. North Farmington: The Raiders had to survive a personal foul call that went against Livonia Stevenson in a 20-7 win over the Spartans. Elijah Cobb played well in his first start for North Farmington. We'll know a lot about the Raiders when they play Walled Lake Western at Ron Holland Field on Friday night.

10. Groves: The Falcons come into the top ten after a statement 42-7 win over Detroit University Detroit Jesuit. Groves looks like they haven't missed a beat but a bigger challenge awaits Coach Brendan Flaherty's team when Oxford comes to Beverly Hills on Friday night.

Rankings Explanation:

The rankings seen some changes. Clarkston goes to the top spot after their blowout win over Belleville. I thought of keeping the top three seeds as is but the Wolves showed me something especially on defense. I kept Adams and Harper Woods at two and three respectively despite blowout wins.

I moved West Bloomfield to four after being impressive against a very young Dearborn Fordson team. The Lakers were stout defensively holding the Tractors scoreless but we'll know a lot about them when Adams comes to the Swamp.

Oxford wasn't that impressive against Hartland despite winning 23-7 on Friday night. The Eagles have a new coach and when looking at the KLAA West, I don't see Hartland in the upper echelon of the division where as Howell, Brighton, and Northville looks really strong

Stoney Creek's defense is a concern which is why they went down two spots despite winning 42-28 over Warren Cousino. The Cougars have some questions but they will be fine under Coach Rick Powell. This should be a very interesting game against Lake Orion for Stoney Creek this week.

Rochester moves up to seven after beating Fraser 34-0. The Ramblers have a new coach and a new system. We'll know a lot about the Falcons after week two against Adams.

Lake Orion goes down one spot to eight despite losing 14-13 to Northville. The Mustangs are very good, no doubt about that but the Dragons resilience showed, if you look at the Thursday recaps, a few questionable calls cost them. Lake Orion is fine but they need to win this week.

North Farmington stays at nine despite winning 20-7 over Livonia Stevenson but we'll know a lot about the Raiders when they play Walled Lake Western at Ron Holland Field on Friday night.

Groves makes the top ten after being impressive against Detroit University Detroit Jesuit winning 42-7 on Thursday night. The Falcons have a chance to prove me wrong when Oxford comes into Beverly Hills on Friday night.

I left out Seaholm and Farmington after two big wins. The Maples beat Troy Athens 31-28 on Thursday night. Farmington won 17-12 over Oak Park in Knight Valley on Friday night. This should be very interesting to see what happens heading into week two.
