There will be a new coach in Auburn Hills this winter.
Avondale Coach Jaret Thomas has stepped down as boys basketball coach of the Yellow Jackets.
The job was posted on the Oakland Schools Avondale website posted below. Also a very accurate source confirmed the move.
Thomas was named the Associate Head Coach at Oakland Community College a few months ago. It was thought to be that Thomas would handle both jobs but something came up surrounding the Oakland Community College situation.
Thomas led the Yellow Jackets to a 32-15 record in his two years taking over at his alumni school. He was also very successful at Adams turning that program around leading them to a 49-37 record in his four years with the Highlanders.
It is unknown who will take over at Avondale this winter.
The Yellow Jackets have Jakobe Louris, Noah Bonds, Anthony Burton, Jaidon Burgeois, and Javonte Anderson coming back. They also added Max Muhl from Rochester this offseason.
Avondale is in the Red with Clarkston, Farmington, North Farmington, Groves, Ferndale, and West Bloomfield this season. They are in a tough district which has Lake Orion, Clarkston, Waterford Mott, and Waterford Kettering.
Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
