Waterford Kettering has their new Boys Basketball Coach.

Written Wednesday October 1st at 2:05 PM

Waterford Kettering has a new boys basketball coach.

The Captains named Will Campbell as their new head coach confirmed a few days ago. He takes over for Rex Walters who stepped down in July after accepting the job in March for the head coaching job at NCAA Division Two Regis University.

Campbell was an assistant at Waterford Kettering for two years and played at Waterford Kettering as a four year letter man. "I'm honored and extremely thrilled for a chance to lead this program, this is an incredible opportunity to build players and culture and chase excellence" Campbell said on Instagram.

The D-Zone basketball page also confirmed the hire.

The Captains will be in the Gold with Oak Park, Harper Woods, Ferndale University, Southfield Arts and Tech, and Berkley. They are in a very difficult district which has Clarkston, Lake Orion, Avondale, and arch rival Waterford Mott in there.

Waterford Kettering will have their third coach in six months this season and is 2-44 in the last two years and 9-81 in the last four years. The Captains will have an experienced team in Jordan Jarrell, Gustas Garbenis, Haiden Bigelow, Braycen Harrington, Dylan Hamel, Josh Wagner, Jessie Redick, Brycen Land, Jack Buczek and Katim Jallow coming back.

It will be very interesting to see what Campbell does with the Captains being the third coach in five months. We'll see what happens.

Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
