Written Thursday January 29th at 1:15 PM

The Bears have a new varsity football coach.

Berkley named Dan Earls as their new varsity football coach. Earls takes over for Casey Humes who stepped down after the season.

The Berkley Bears Athletic Page on X confirmed the hire. Earls met with the team on Thursday afternoon.

Earls was an offensive coordinator and was at Taylor. Earls is a Navy veteran with a strong background on offense. He also spent some time in Plymouth as well.

The Bears went 4-5 and 3-1 in the Gold last season losing to Ferndale under Humes but didn't make the postseason. Earls will have a huge challenge ahead of him sustaining the program that Humes built.
