ADAMS 40, Grand Blanc 20: It was a very interesting game on Saturday afternoon at Howell. The Highlanders are back in a State Championship game for the second time (2003-Division Two) and their first ever Division One State title game after beating Grand Blanc 40-20. The Adams defense allowed two long touchdowns to running back Elijah Jackson-Anderson (93 yard rushing and an 82 yard receiving touchdown from quarterback Hunter Ames) but the Adams defense really locked down after that forcing turnovers (three fumbles and two interceptions along with a turnover on downs) and making plays. The Adams offense really took over thanks to their passing. Christian Schomer was outstanding in this game. He has caught two passing scores (58 yarder and a 25 yarder) from Parker Picot. Max Cibor has also had a big game as well. He caught a 16 yard passing score. Colin Timko has been excellent kicking two field goals and was four for five on extra points. Picot had 31 carries for 151 yards rushing and was six for 12 for 152 passing yards and three passing scores and a rushing score as well. Grand Blanc got another passing touchdown from Ames to Jackson-Anderson who added his third score of the game from 14 yards out. The Highlanders defense added a pick six from Tait Picot from 26 yards out to ice the game for Adams giving them this statement win. Adams will play Belleville in the Division One State title game on Saturday afternoon. The Highlanders theme has been “Resilience” whether it was Coach Tony Patritto’s personal battle with COVID-19 or early in the year when a friend was battling for his life. Patritto’s stance has been more of life challenges than football challenges though he challenges his kids to be successful not just on the field but off the field as well.
