Adams: The Highlanders battled back from an early 14-0
deficit to put 33 unanswered points in a 40-20 victory over Grand Blanc on Saturday afternoon in the Division One State Semifinals at Howell. Christian
Schomer had a great game catching two receiving touchdowns and getting an
interception. Parker Picot added three passing scores along with a rushing
score. Adams calmed down defensively and really clamped down. They forced five Bobcats turnovers which included three fumbles, a fourth down stop, and two interceptions which also included a 26 yard pick six from Tait Picot. I remember Coach
Tony Patritto’s interview really well from Media Day and my interview with him
during the preview show, the word resilience. That’s what Adams theme has been
all year long. The Highlanders are in their second State Championship game,
their first in Division One, and first at Ford Field. They will play Belleville in the Division One State
title game. The Tigers are very similar to West Bloomfield when it comes to
athleticism and playmakers. They have a very good freshman quarterback and a ton of
playmakers as well. I don’t think Belleville has seen the veer offense or played the type of teams that Adams
has. I know there has been a lot of questions about why the Highlanders were
not in the Red this season or last year but Adams has more than proven that
they can beat anyone. It should be a very interesting game next Saturday at Ford Field.
