Basketball Classic Roundup- 12/30.

Written Thursday December 30th at 10:00 PM

Avondale 64, Riverview 53.

The Yellow Jackets went to Carleton Airport and earned a huge 64-53 win over Riverview on Thursday afternoon I credit Coach Pat Clancy for leading this Avondale program to a huge win in Monroe County. This should help the Yellow Jackets move forward heading into the New Year.

Grosse Pointe South 53, West Bloomfield 46.

The Lakers lost a tough one at the Motor City Roundball Classic on Thursday afternoon to Grosse Pointe South 53-46 at Ferndale. West Bloomfield played last night and playing a back to back is very difficult to say the least. The Lakers will be an interesting team to watch heading into the New Year.

Croswell-Lexington 42, Stoney Creek 36.

The Cougars had a great battle at the St. Clair Community College showcase but could not overcome Croswell-Lexington 42-36 on Thursday afternoon in Port Huron. Stoney Creek should be fine heading into the New Year. There is a lot to like with the Cougars.

Orchard Lake St Marys 70, Ferndale 51.

The Eagles did not play well against Orchard Lake St. Marys on Thursday night falling 70-51 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. Trey Lewis had 13 points and Trenton Rush added 11 points for Ferndale. The Eagles will be fine heading into the New Year.

Clarkston 55, Sterling Heights Stevenson 37.

The Wolves had a long layoff picked up a huge win over the Titans 55-37 in the Dan Fife Holiday Classic. Clarkston held Sterling Heights Stevenson to two points in the third quarter which ended up being the difference in the game. Coach Tim Waslik has the Wolves heading in the right direction heading into the New Year.

Port Huron Northern 60, Troy Athens 57.

The Red Hawks blew an eight point third quarter lead to Port Huron Northern on Thursday night in the St. Clair Community College. Troy Athens was held to six points in the fourth quarter. This is a really tough loss for Coach Dave Scott and the Red Hawks. They need to find a way when it comes to consistency heading into the New Year.

Girls

West Bloomfield 69, Ludington 22.

The Lakers had no problem with Ludington on Thursday night in the Motor City Roundball Classic at Westfield Prep winning 69-22. West Bloomfield was led by Summer Davis whom had 23 points against the Orioles. Both teams were playing their second game in the Motor City Roundball Classic. The Lakers are starting to roll heading into the New Year.
