Week Four Thoughts.

Written Saturday September 17th at 9:45 AM

Here are my thoughts on each team heading into week five. More will be discussed on the podcast on Monday.

West Bloomfield: The Lakers had to earn it on Friday night by beating Clarkston whom was without their starting quarterback 35-27 in the Swamp. Kenny Jones had a big night for West Bloomfield in the game. The Lakers have a big one looming next week when they head to Adams to play the Highlanders.

Adams: The Highlanders used a ton of motivation and proven experience and had a strong second half to beat Lake Orion 42-21 on Friday night. Adams had big games from Parker Picot and Brady Prieskorn in the game. They have a big one looming with West Bloomfield next week.

Clarkston: The Wolves fell 35-27 to West Bloomfield in the Swamp on Friday night. They were without quarterback Mike Hein whom had an injury and missed the game. Steven Kossak was solid in the game and also in the comeback attempt. The 27 points scored is a great sign but the defense remains a concern. They have Oxford looming next week.

Lake Orion: The Dragons are really going through a storm right now. They struggled offensively against Adams in a 42-21 loss on Friday night. The defense was on the field way too much in the game. They have Stoney Creek looming next week.

Stoney Creek: The Cougars turned a 7-7 game into a 31-7 win at Oxford on Friday night. Stoney Creek has played very well lately. They have Lake Orion looming next week on their homecoming.

Oxford: It was a rough one for the Wildcats on their homecoming on Friday night. They fell 31-7 to Stoney Creek. Oxford has a tough one looming with Clarkston next week.

Southfield Arts and Tech: The Warriors earned a hard fought 48-22 win over Rochester on Friday night. They have really turned things around defensively despite still allowing over 20 points per game but it’s better than 50 points per game. Southfield Arts and Tech has Groves looming next week.

Harper Woods: The Pioneers earned their first home win of the season but it ended up being a shootout. Harper Woods earned a 53-40 win over Oak Park on Friday night. The offense really had a big night but the defense not so much but the Pioneers are at 2-2. They have a big one looming with Rochester next week.

Groves: The Falcons have been playing well and have been battle tested. Groves beat Bloomfield Hills in a hard fought 35-28 game on Friday night. They have a big test looming with Southfield Arts and Tech next week.

Rochester: The Falcons did everything they could with Southfield Arts and Tech on Friday night but they fell 48-22 to Southfield Arts and Tech. They have Harper Woods looming next week.

Bloomfield Hills: The Blackhawks played much better than in the last three weeks but lost a tough one to Groves 35-28 on Friday night. CJ Jackson had a big night in the game. Bloomfield Hills as mentioned played much better despite the loss. They have four home games looming starting with Oak Park next week.

Oak Park: The Knights are getting better each week despite the 0-4 record. Oak Park fell 53-40 to Harper Woods on Friday night. The Knights are heading in the right direction. They have Bloomfield Hills looming next week.

Seaholm: The Maples have keep rolling. They beat Troy Athens 35-0 on Friday night. Seaholm controls their destiny in the Blue. They have North Farmington looming next week.

North Farmington: The Raiders played much better than the last two games but they lost a tough one in overtime to arch rival Farmington in overtime on Friday night 33-27. They still control their own destiny in the Blue but they need to beat Seaholm next week if they want any chance to stay in the Blue hunt.

Farmington: The Falcons earned the Farmington Cup back to Farmington in a stunning 33-27 overtime win over North Farmington on Friday night. Dominic Peshi and Cam Pettaway had big nights for the Falcons. Farmington keeps pace with Seaholm for the Blue crown. They have Troy looming next week.

Troy:  The Colts defense has been the real deal and it showed in their 17-12 win over Ferndale on their homecoming Friday night. They have been quietly moving along despite their offensive issues. Troy has Farmington looming next week.

Troy Athens: The Red Hawks did not have their quarterback as he was out with an injury. They fell 35-0 to Seaholm on Friday night. Troy Athens needs to get healthy and quick. They have Royal Oak looming next week.

Berkley: The Bears Gold title hopes were severely damaged on Friday night at Dick Bye Field. They fell 35-6 to Avondale on Friday night. Berkley has Ferndale looming next week in a must win game.

Avondale: The Yellow Jackets kept their Gold title hopes alive with a 35-6 blowout win at Dick Bye Field over Berkley on Friday night. Avondale controls their destiny right now. They have Pontiac looming next week.

Royal Oak: The Ravens earned their first win under new coach Dustyn Truitt by beating Pontiac on their homecoming 42-20 on Friday night. It seems to me that Royal Oak is starting to turn things around a little bit. They have a big one looming with Troy Athens next week.

Pontiac: The Phoenix have played better in the last two weeks offensively averaging 25 points per game but they have allowed 45 points per game in that stretch also. Pontiac fell 42-20 to Royal Oak on Friday night. They have Avondale looming next week.

Ferndale: The Eagles lost a tough one on Friday night to Troy 17-12. Ferndale is in a tough spot right now. They have Berkley looming next week.
