3. West Bloomfield at 1. Southfield Arts and Tech: This should be a very interesting matchup between two teams that will have a ton of Division One or Division Two College prospects. Also this game is on Bally Sports Extra this week. The Warriors won the White this season and have been rolling thanks to a high octane offense led by Isiah Marshall and an improving defense. That improving defense should be tested against the likes of Kenny Jones and Semaj Morgan but they won’t see Requan Nance as he is still out with a finger injury. Both teams are rolling heading into the postseason but discipline is key heading into this game. We’ll see if Southfield Arts and Tech is for real or not in this game.
SANDY DUNES: WEST BLOOMFIELD 70, SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 66.
BURNEY: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 50, WEST BLOOMFIELD 47.
DUNLAP: WEST BLOOMFIELD 48, SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 42.
TIM: WEST BLOOMFIELD 56, SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 49.
STICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD over SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH.
COTTER: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42, SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 35.
Harper Woods at 2. Adams: This could be the Pioneers toughest challenge yet. I don’t know if they have seen a team that runs the veer as masterfully as the Highlanders. Adams has a boatload of experience to boot as well. This is the first meeting between the schools. It could be a long night for Harper Woods in dealing with this type of offense.
SANDY DUNES: ADAMS 42, HARPER WOODS 24.
BURNEY: ADAMS 31, HARPER WOODS 23.
DUNLAP: ADAMS 34, HARPER WOODS 13.
TIM: ADAMS 42, HARPER WOODS 7.
STICK: ADAMS over HARPER WOODS.
COTTER: ADAMS 49, HARPER WOODS 12.
4. Seaholm at 6. Farmington: This is a big game to see if the Maples can win the Blue outright or do they share the league crown with the Falcons. Seaholm has a ton of confidence heading to the postseason and setting up their rivalry matchup with Groves. Farmington is likely postseason bound thanks to the play of Dominic Peshi and Cam Pettaway. Peshi should be the best quarterback the Maples have seen all season long. This should be a very interesting matchup at Falcon Field. Farmington TV 10 should be all over this game.
SANDY DUNES: SEAHOLM 24, FARMINGTON 21.
BURNEY: SEAHOLM 40, FARMINGTON 28.
DUNLAP: SEAHOLM 17, FARMINGTON 14.
TIM: SEAHOLM 35, FARMINGTON 14.
STICK: SEAHOLM over FARMINGTON.
COTTER: SEAHOLM 42, FARMINGTON 20.
5. Clarkston at Lapeer: It’s Lapeer’s homecoming and it’s a very difficult matchup to say the least. The Lightning come into this game unbeaten which includes wins against Ann Arbor Huron, Traverse City Central, Grand Blanc, Saginaw Heritage, and Grand Ledge but they have lost five straight meetings to the Wolves. Clarkston has a really talented running back in Ethan Clark. Clark had 410 rushing yards and four touchdowns in their shootout 45-41 win over Lake Orion last week. Clark should be the best running back Lapeer has seen all season. The Wolves defense will have to deal with their standout quarterback Zac Olejniczak. Olejniczak has played very well for the Lightning. This game could be a shootout on 170 Millville Road in Lapeer (remember Clarkston fans, if you’re traveling to Lapeer, the game is at the old Lapeer West High School, not Lapeer High School itself.) Credit to Anthony Taormina for suggesting this matchup.
SANDY DUNES: CLARKSTON 56, LAPEER 52.
BURNEY: CLARKSTON 38, LAPEER 37.
DUNLAP: CLARKSTON 24, LAPEER 20.
TIM: LAPEER 42, CLARKSTON 35.
STICK: CLARKSTON over LAPEER.
COTTER: CLARKSTON 45, LAPEER 42.
7. Rochester at Stoney Creek: These city rivals are no strangers to one another but postseason dreams could be on the line for both teams in this game. Coach Nick Merlo has been on both sides of this rivalry. The Falcons have won three straight with two of them by six points or less. The Cougars have lost four of their last five games and are fighting to keep their postseason hopes alive. Stoney Creek will likely need to win out if they want to make the postseason. Rochester has lost seven of the last 10 meetings to Stoney Creek. This should be a fun game to watch.
SANDY DUNES: STONEY CREEK 27, ROCHESTER 24.
BURNEY: STONEY CREEK 32, ROCHESTER 26.
DUNLAP: STONEY CREEK 21, ROCHESTER 17.
TIM: STONEY CREEK 28, ROCHESTER 21.
STICK: ROCHESTER over STONEY CREEK.
COTTER: STONEY CREEK 35, ROCHESTER 13.
Troy Athens at 8. Troy: This is a big game for both teams if they want to be in the postseason. The Colts offense had their best showing in a 42-0 win over Royal Oak last week. The Red Hawks won 42-0 over Pontiac last week. Troy came back from 20-0 down to stun Troy Athens 21-20 snapping a three game losing streak to their arch rivals last season. These two city rivals know each other quite well so this should be a very interesting game on Long Lake Road this week.
SANDY DUNES: TROY ATHENS 24, TROY 20.
BURNEY: TROY 23, TROY ATHENS 20.
DUNLAP: TROY 21, TROY ATHENS 20.
TIM: TROY 10, TROY ATHENS 7.
STICK: TROY over TROY ATHENS.
COTTER: TROY 24, TROY ATHENS 7.
9. Groves at Berkley: This is the first meeting since 2017 between the Falcons and the Bears. Groves has won the last four meetings over Berkley and is 6-3 in the last nine meetings against them. The Falcons need to win to solidify their postseason hopes. The Bears have been struggling all season but winning a game like this at Hurley Field could go in a big way for them heading into next season.
SANDY DUNES: GROVES 31, BERKLEY 20.
BURNEY: GROVES 26, BERKLEY 25.
DUNLAP: GROVES 24, BERKLEY 10.
TIM: GROVES 42, BERKLEY 7.
STICK: GROVES over BERKLEY.
COTTER: GROVES 49, BERKLEY 0.
10. Lake Orion at North Farmington: The Dragons are in a fight for their postseason lives sitting at 3-4. They remember the 48-22 loss to the Raiders at Ron Holland Field last season. It was a big reason why they didn’t make the playoffs. Lake Orion’s defense has been a big problem in the last two weeks. They have allowed 43 points per game in the last two weeks and North Farmington has a quarterback in Ryan Shelby whom torched the Dragons last season. The Raiders have had problems keeping leads in games and has struggled defensively as well. It should be a very interesting game at Ron Holland Field.
SANDY DUNES: LAKE ORION 63, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.
BURNEY: LAKE ORION 35, NORTH FARMINGTON 22.
DUNLAP: LAKE ORION 31, NORTH FARMINGTON 10.
TIM: (This is for Rachel-LO's biggest fan)- LAKE ORION 35, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.
STICK: LAKE ORION over NORTH FARMINGTON.
COTTER: LAKE ORION 42, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.
Oak Park at Orchard Lake St. Marys: It hasn’t been the greatest of seasons for both teams. The Knights are winless while the Eaglets are 2-5. Both teams have really struggled which is very unusual. It’s the third meeting all time between Oak Park and Orchard Lake St. Marys. It should be a very interesting game to see who gets a win in this one which should help heading into the future.
SANDY DUNES: ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARYS 28, OAK PARK 25.
BURNEY: ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARYS 30, OAK PARK 21.
DUNLAP: ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARYS 28, OAK PARK 0.
TIM: ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARYS 42, OAK PARK 0.
STICK: ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARYS over OAK PARK.
COTTER: ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARYS 28, OAK PARK 6.
Pontiac at Ferndale: This looks like a mismatch on paper but last season the Eagles survived 14-6 over the Phoenix. Pontiac has struggled this season on both sides of the football but they are better than last season. Ferndale wants to clinch the overall Gold crown but if they want to make the playoffs they need to win this game and also against St. Clair Shores Lake Shore just to have a shot at the postseason.
SANDY DUNES: FERNDALE 14, PONTIAC 12.
BURNEY: FERNDALE 33, PONTIAC 17.
DUNLAP: FERNDALE 31, PONTIAC 8.
TIM: FERNDALE 4,042, PONTIAC 0.
STICK: FERNDALE over PONTIAC.
COTTER: FERNDALE 42, PONTIAC 6.
Royal Oak at Avondale: This is a very interesting matchup of two teams that are heading in opposite directions. The Yellow Jackets pulled off an emotional 27-24 win over North Farmington last week. The Ravens have been dealing with a ton of distractions and its unknown if Coach Dustyn Truitt will coach this game. Avondale is in a very good spot heading into the postseason.
SANDY DUNES: AVONDALE 42, ROYAL OAK 7.
BURNEY: AVONDALE 34, ROYAL OAK 24.
DUNLAP: AVONDALE 23, ROYAL OAK 7.
TIM: AVONDALE 49, ROYAL OAK 7.
STICK: AVONDALE over ROYAL OAK.
COTTER: AVONDALE 35, ROYAL OAK 0.
Oxford at Bloomfield Hills: These are two teams that are combined 2-12. The Blackhawks have scored 21 points and have allowed 104 points in the last two weeks. The Wildcats have really struggled. They have scored 20 points and allowed 111 points allowed in the last four weeks. Oxford has an advantage up front. Bloomfield Hills has the skill positions. This should be a very interesting matchup of two different styles.
SANDY DUNES: OXFORD 28, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7.
BURNEY: OXFORD 28, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 25.
DUNLAP: OXFORD 28, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 14.
TIM: OXFORD 42, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7.
STICK: OXFORD over BLOOMFIELD HILLS.
COTTER: OXFORD 17, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7.
