Here is the early track regional preview which takes place on Friday and Saturday.
Regional 8 at Rochester
ROCHESTER
ADAMS
STONEY CREEK
AVONDALE
GROVES
BERKLEY
SEAHOLM
BLOOMFIELD HILLS
OAK PARK
ROYAL OAK
SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH
TROY
Birmingham Brother Rice (Boys)
Detroit Renaissance
Detroit University Detroit Jesuit (Boys)
Detroit Mumford (Girls)
BOYS: This could be a tight regional between Adams and Oak Park. Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit and Detroit Renaissance could be wildcard teams. Royal Oak could surprise in the distance along with Troy. Groves is another team to watch out for especially in the throws. Adams has a ton of balance coming into this regional and being close to home also helps as well.
GIRLS: This could be a very interesting regional between Oak Park and Rochester. The Falcons are deeper than the Knights but Oak Park has the relays and hurdles to do some damage. Seaholm is a sleeper in the distance as is Royal Oak in the throws. This could be a tense drama between the Knights and the Falcons.
Regional 9 at Milford
Milford
LAKE ORION
CLARKSTON
OXFORD
WEST BLOOMFIELD
FARMINGTON
NORTH FARMINGTON
Lapeer
Detroit Catholic Central (Boys)
Walled Lake Central
Walled Lake Northern
Walled Lake Western
Waterford Kettering
Waterford Mott
Lakeland
Farmington Hills Mercy (Girls)
BOYS: This could be a very tight regional like last season. Walled Lake Central brings the throws to the mix. Clarkston looks very strong in the mid distance. Novi Detroit Catholic Central and West Bloomfield are proven sprint powerhouses. It will come down very similar to last season, whoever has enough balance will win this regional.
GIRLS: This could be a very tight regional. West Bloomfield and Lake Orion look like they are the teams that could win this regional. Walled Lake Central and Clarkston could also be tough challengers as well. Walled Lake Northern looks to be the wildcard. Overall this should be very tight.
Regional 10 at Romeo
Romeo
TROY ATHENS
Chippewa Valley
Fraser
Macomb L’Anse Creuse
Macomb Dakota
Macomb L’Anse Creuse North
New Baltimore Anchor Bay
Port Huron
Port Huron Northern
Sterling Heights
Sterling Heights Stevenson
Utica
Utica Eisenhower
Utica Ford
BOYS: This could be a very interesting regional. Chippewa Valley brings the sprints while New Baltimore Anchor Bay and Troy Athens looks to be strong in the distance. Romeo looks to be the wildcard The Tars have the hurdles and someone in the pole vault. If I had to give an advantage in this regional, it would be the Tars but barely.
GIRLS: This regional could go either way. Troy Athens, New Baltmore Anchor Bay, Macomb Dakota, and Romeo are more than capable of winning this regional. Getting points will be very crustal in a regional where this could go either way as mentioned.
Regional 18 at Ferndale
FERNDALE
FERNDALE UNIVERSITY
HARPER WOODS
Center Line
Detroit Denby
Birmingham Detroit Country Day
Detroit East English Village Prep
Detroit Henry Ford
Detroit Southeastern
Eastpointe
Chandler Park
Hazel Park
St. Clair Shores South Lake
Lamphere
Warren Fitzgerald
Warren Lincoln
BOYS: This regional looks like this will be Birmingham Detroit Country Day's to lose. They are ranked really high in most of the races. Harper Woods and Ferndale could have strong says but both teams don't have the depth to matchup with the Yellow Jackets.
GIRLS: This could be more tighter between Birmingham Detroit Country Day and Ferndale. Ferndale has the edge in sprints while Birmingham Detroit Country Day has the edge in distance. Field events could decide this regional between the Eagles and the Yellow Jackets.
Regional 19 at North Branch
North Branch
PONTIAC
Pontiac Notre Dame Prep
Armada
Croswell Lexington
Cranbrook Kingswood
Goodrich
Imlay City
Macomb Lutheran North
Marine City
Marysville
North Branch
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Brandon
Richmond
St. Clair
Yale
Birmingham Marian (Girls)
BOYS: This could be a very interesting regional between Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, Orchard Lake St. Marys, and Marine City. Yale could also steal some points as well but looking at this regional it looks like the Eaglets have a little bit more balance to make some noise.
GIRLS: This regional could be very tight between North Branch, Goodrich, and Yale. All three teams are deep. Goodrich brings the distance, Yale has the field events, while North Branch is strong in the sprints. Relays could decide this regional.
