WIN OF THE WEEK: Adams: The Highlanders earned a come from behind 22-21 win over Romeo on Thursday night at Dan Barnabo Field. Adams blew a 14-0 halftime lead and gave the Bulldogs a 21-14 lead in overtime but Rylan Watters scored and a gutsy call by Coach Tony Patritto gave the Highlanders a monster win over a really good Romeo team. Adams has a big one with Rochester next week.
WHAT IN THE BLUE WORLD: Avondale: The Yellow Jackets had a rough week like a lot of people who were impacted by the severe thunderstorms that impacted the area. Avondale was shocked 20-14 by Cedar Springs in a low scoring game. It’s not a good look for Coach Bob Meyer especially on offense and the defense allowing 20 points is not a good stat either. The Yellow Jackets have Seaholm looming next week.
TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG: Berkley: The Bears played their tails off defensively forcing overtime in a scoreless game but it wasn’t enough as Walled Lake Central scored a touchdown and Berkley couldn’t match it falling 7-0 on Thursday night. Coach Casey Humes needs to fix the offense going forward but the defense is not the issue. They have Troy Athens looming next week.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME: Troy Athens: The Red Hawks had a ton of expectations coming into the season but this was a rough one for them in a stunning 40-0 loss to Seaholm on Thursday night. There has to be pressure now on this team to get this right. Coach Tom Cook needs to fix this and quick. They have Berkley looming next week.
