Region Two @ Novi
OXFORD vs WEST BLOOMFIELD
Novi Detroit Catholic Central vs Okemos
This has a chance to be a interesting Regional. Three of the four teams went through emotional district finals that included Penalty Kicks. Catholic League power Detroit Catholic Central went through rival and state ranked Northville while OAA Red power Oxford went through rival Lake Orion. Capital Area Conference's Okemos also went to penalty kicks against Hartland while OAA White's West Bloomfield got out of a district that included Bloomfield Hills and the Walled Lake schools.
Two teams stand out in this Regional. Oxford and Detroit Catholic Central. Both of whom have played very tough schedules and have been state ranked throughout the year. Oxford only has one loss which was to OAA Red Power Troy while Detroit Catholic Central has went through a very tough schedule. One thing to note, the two OAA Red opponents both teams have in common, Troy Athens and Seaholm. Oxford beat Troy Athens and tied Seaholm while Catholic Central lost to both OAA powers. Could that play a role when those two teams meet in the Regional Finals.
Favorite: Oxford (have to go with the Wildcats experience) though as we saw with the two district games. Oxford needs to clean some things up if they want to make a deep run.
Region Four @ Berkley
TROY vs ADAMS
Romeo vs St. Clair Shores Lakeview
This will also be a interesting Regional. Two OAA Red powers and two MAC teams. Also noting that this Regional will be held at Hurley Field. The same field where Berkley plays. Could that favor the the OAA that comes out of that matchup??? Both Adams and Troy are stronger than Romeo and Lakeview but it will be interesting who comes out of the Troy/Adams game. Troy won the OAA Red but Adams was Troy's only loss with the Highlanders going into Troy and beating them 1-0. Troy should be motivated and went through a brutal district beating OAA Red foes Seaholm and Berkley (in the district final) but Adams just went through MAC Red power and champion Utica Eisenhower and beat them 4-0 in the district final. Romeo however, is battled tested playing in the MAC Red and playing rivals Utica Eisenhower and Macomb Dakota. Romeo also tied Adams earlier this year at 1 which should make it interesting, should both teams meet in the Regional Final. Lakeview competes in the MAC Blue but did defeat MAC White Champ Grosse Pointe South to win the district.
Favorite: Troy (The Troy/Adams winner will most likely play Romeo in the Regional Championship.) Troy is motivated, they wanted a chance to get back at Adams for the regular season loss earlier in the year.
