District Finals Recap.

HARPER WOODS 47, Harper Woods Chandler Park 6: The Pioneers entered this city rivalry with the Eagles with an opportunity to make a ton of noise. Harper Woods controlled things early but multiple fights in the stands has paused the game with the Pioneers up 20-0. The game got back on and Harper Woods has not let up scoring 20 unanswered points to go up 40-0 at the half. The Pioneers added another score to go up 47-0 but the Eagles added a score to make it 47-6. The game ended in an incident with less than a minute to go in the game. Harper Woods will move on to play Dearborn Divine Child in the regional final at Beaconsfield Street next week.

GROVES 36, Warren Cousino 22: Jeremiah Whitley continues to make a name for himself in the postseason. After a 322 and six touchdown effort against Warren Mott last week. Whitley opened up the scoring on a 85 yard touchdown run to open the game but the Patriots answered right back with a touchdown. The Falcons answered right back with a touchdown and a two point conversion to give themselves a 15-7 lead. Warren Cousino answered right back again with a long drive setting up a touchdown for a 15-14 Groves lead behind LaVelle Shannon to Josh Hammonds touchdown. The Falcons calmed down and then got a touchdown to take a 22-14 lead after a Whitley touchdown. Warren Cousino started the second half with a passing touchdown and a two point conversion to tie the game at 22-22. Groves responded on their first drive of the second half getting a touchdown from Whitley to regain the lead 29-22. The Falcons got a pick six for a touchdown by Jonathan Taylor making it 36-22 Groves. The Falcons defense got a massive stop forcing Warren Cousino to turn the ball over on downs. Groves will move onto the regional final and meet St. Clair Lakeview on the road next week.

ADAMS 43, STONEY CREEK 18: The Highlanders used a healthy Ryland Watters and got off to a strong start getting a touchdown and a two point conversion and never looked back against a pretty good Cougars team. Stoney Creek struggled with Adams defense all night along with the veer and Watters controlling tempo and the game all night. The Highlanders will move on and have a rematch with Romeo who beat Macomb Dakota 56-0 at Dan Barnabo Field. Adams beat Romeo 39-7 in week one in Rochester but the Bulldogs are a much different team. Stoney Creek will be back next season despite losing a great senior class, they will be back.

CLARKSTON 44, Grand Blanc 22: Alex Wasczezenko had a monster game on the ground and in the air on Friday night against Grand Blanc. Wasczezenko had an 17 yard touchdown run off zone read with the quarterback keeper to give the Wolves the early lead but the Bobcats caught a tipped ball and went 60 yards then they answered with a Jake Murrow passing touchdown to Jeremiah Coleman tying the score at 7-7. The Wolves answered right back with a 27 yard touchdown pass from Wasczezenko to Hank Hornung for a 14-7 Clarkston lead. The Wolves Griffin Boman recovered a fumble which could change the game. Boman added a 17 yard rushing touchdown but the point after was blocked making the score 20-7 Wolves. The Bobcats had a long drive which resulted in a one yard touchdown by Morrow to make it 20-14 Clarkston. Aiden O'Neil redeemed himself after seeing an extra point get blocked with a 42 yard field goal making the score 23-14 Wolves to close the half. The Wolves had a good start defensively to open the second half containing the high octane Bobcats offense. Clarkston went zone read again in opening the second half with a Wasczezenko 22 yard rushing score making it 30-14 Wolves. The Bobcats answered with a long drive from Murrow to Micah Kemp from 27 yards out and got a two point conversion making it 30-22 Clarkston. The Wolves answered on an end around as Hornung went 70 yards to make it 37-22 Clarkston. The Wolves defense got a big stop at the five yard line. Hornung caught a 74 yard pass from Wasczezenko which resulted in a three yard rushing touchdown to put the game away with a 44-22 Clarkston lead. The Wolves will be looking at Novi Detroit Catholic Central but the good news for the Wolves is they have the Shamrocks coming to Clarkston next week.
