Postseason Thoughts Week Two.

Written Friday November 7th at 9:55 PM

Postseason thoughts after week two on each team.

Clarkston: The Wolves behind the play of Alex Waszczenko and Hank Hornung had monster games against a Grand Blanc defense that was exposed by Oxford in the first round and then really exposed in a 44-22 win the district finals on Friday night. The Wolves defense was the story limiting the potent Bobcats offense to 22 points and getting key stops. Clarkston will have a really tough matchup in the regional finals looming with Novi Detroit Catholic Central but the good news for Wolves fans that game will be at Clarkston.

Adams: The Highlanders had a strong night from their offense, defense, and special teams in a impressive 43-18 win over arch rival Stoney Creek. The veer went to work and was dominant throughout the game. Adams will host Romeo in the regional finals next week. The Highlanders won 39-7 over the Bulldogs in week one but Romeo is a much different team and they shut out Macomb Dakota 56-0 in the district finals last week.

Stoney Creek: The Cougars had a rough night with Adams on both sides of the ball. The Highlanders won 43-18 over Stoney Creek. The experience and injuries were the difference in the game for Adams along with depth. The Cougars lose a really good senior class but the sophomores and juniors they have coming back will be key. Stoney Creek will be back next season.

Groves: Jeremiah Whitley continues to be the story for the Falcons this postseason with a three touchdown performance in a 36-22 win over Warren Cousino on Friday night. Whitley had nine touchdowns in the postseason. Groves defense was solid as well. The Falcons will get a big test against a proven Wing T offense in St. Clair Shores Lakeview who knocked off Grosse Pointe South on the road next week.

Harper Woods: The Pioneers had to deal with fights in the stands and a shooting in the parking lot which led to multiple stops in the game. Harper Woods won 47-6 over Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy. The Pioneers were firmly in control and didn't look back. Harper Woods has a big game looming with Dearborn Divine Child in the regional final next week.
