Avondale has their new football coach.

Written Friday February 6th at 7:20 AM

Avondale has named their new varsity football coach.

The Yellow Jackets named JayRamond Hall as their new head coach. Hall takes over Jim Carlisle who was let go after a very disappointing and shocking 1-8 season.

The D-Zone confirmed the hire.

Hall played at Oak Park for legendary coach Greg Carter in the early 2010's on the offensive line leading the Knights to four postseason appearances and 26 wins. He played at Michigan in 2017 but finished his playing career at Central Michigan from 2018-2021. Hall was the director of player personnel and was an assistant offensive line coach at Wayne State in 2024 and had almost the same role (transfer recruiting coordinator) at Lawrence Tech according to the Wayne State football site.

Hall is Avondale's fourth coach in five years. The Yellow Jackets went 1-8 scoring 20 points or more once last season under Carlisle. The defense was really bad allowing 326 points, which was 36 points per game last season.

It will be interesting to see how the players handle another coaching transition period also this is a program that needs stability. Avondale will play in the Gold this fall with Ferndale, Berkley, Royal Oak, Pontiac, and Waterford Kettering.

Hall has be given that opportunity to lead the Yellow Jackets back to the postseason this season.

Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story. I'll have more on the podcast on Monday.
