MOST IMPRESSSIVED: Royal Oak: The Ravens were very impressive on Thursday night winning 28-6 over St. Clair Shores Lake Shore. Royal Oak won 17-7 over the Shorians last season. The Gold is wide open besides Ferndale the Ravens could make some big noise this season. It's a good start for Coach Colin Campbell and Royal Oak.

TOUGH LOSS: Lake Orion: The Dragons are going through some critical injuries on the offensive line but they did just enough to win against a very good Northville program but penalties and turnovers at critical times was the difference and a trick play in double overtime as well in a 38-31 loss to the Mustangs. The Dragons will be fine despite the injuries on the offensive line. Things are different with Lake Orion. They are in a must win mode next week when they host Bloomfield Hills.

TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG: West Bloomfield: The Lakers and Dragons fit this category perfectly, both took heartbreaking losses only West Bloomfield didn't go to double overtime. The Lakers had a bad snap in the second quarter giving them a 13-7 lead at the time but that gave Dearborn Fordson life, and the Tractors took advantage scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Dearborn Fordson then stopped West Bloomfield on offense and did not let them get the football back in a stunning 14-13 loss. The Lakers like Lake Orion have injuries on the offensive line. They will be fine and they have Troy in the Swamp next.

HUH: Harper Woods: What happened to the Pioneers defense against Chelsea??? The Bulldogs have the Wing T misdirection attack but for a team that has a ton of four- and five-star recruits to trail 14-0 and 20-6 at one point but tied up only to give up a touchdown and a field goal and then fall 29-20. There are serious concerns for Harper Woods at quarterback, but the biggest concern is the defensive line as the Bulldogs had their way with the Pioneers. Harper Woods has Ferndale looming next week.

WHAT THE???: Groves: The Falcons had everything in control at Tom Adams Field at Wayne State on Friday afternoon only to see Elijah Cobb score a 50-yard rushing touchdown that gave former OAA member North Farmington the 14-13 lead with the extra point. Groves had a chance to win the game but missed a 20-yard field goal hitting the left goal post which ended up being the game in a stunning 14-13 loss to the Raiders. Jermiah Whitley had a 75 yard rushing touchdown but it was the mistakes going for two and missing on that cost Groves big time. They have Berkley looming next week.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???: Seaholm: The Maples had a tough assignment with Milford on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor but Hudson Smith (Milford's star quarterback) was out recovering from mono, and the Mavericks were starting a freshman quarterback in Bradley Moreno. Moreno had three passing touchdowns to Bryce Marszalek. Will Forsberg did everything he could for Seaholm including a 77 yard punt return for a touchdown, but it wasn't enough as the Maples fell 30-13 to Milford. Wesley McPeak had a five yard rushing touchdown in the game. This is not a good look for the Maples at all, and they had four turnovers which didn't help. Seaholm has a tricky matchup with Royal Oak looming next week.
