Here is my insight heading into the Baseball Regional Final and State Quarterfinals this weekend.
LAKE ORION vs Orchard Lake St. Marys
THOUGHTS/INSIGHT: This might be the Dragons biggest
challenge. They are taking on an Eaglets team that is rolling on all cylinders.
Orchard Lake St. Marys is the top team in the State and also the nation. They
have almost everyone on their team heading to play either in the Major Leagues
or Division One College Baseball. The Eaglets won 5-0 over White Lake Lakeland while the Dragons won 11-1 over sixth ranked Adams. Lake
Orion is ranked seventh in Division One. If there is a team that could give Orchard
Lake St. Marys trouble this is it. The winner will see either Novi Detroit Catholic Central or Hartland in the State Quarterfinals.
GROVES vs Grosse Pointe North
The Falcons have been peaking at the right time in the
postseason. Groves won the Troy Athens district last weekend and sent a statement by beating
Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit 5-1 in the regional
semifinals on Wednesday afternoon. The Norseman is coming off a hard fought 2-1 victory over Warren De
LaSalle on Wednesday afternoon in the regional semifinals. The Falcons if
things go right has a great chance if they keep playing loose and not get over
confident. The winner will see either Chippewa Valley or Detroit Western in the State Quarterfinals.
