Week Five Thoughts.

West Bloomfield: The Lakers suffered their third loss in two years to Adams on Friday night with the Highlanders winning 35-18. Penalties showed their ugly head in the game which made a big difference. West Bloomfield has their homecoming looming with Lake Orion next week.

Adams: The Gold Rush was out in full force and the Highlanders earned their third straight win over West Bloomfield by winning 35-18 on Friday night. Tanner Buck had two touchdowns while Nick Paterra added a touchdown run and Brady Prieskorn caught two touchdowns in the game. Parker Picot was solid as well. Adams has Oxford looming next week.

Clarkston: The Wolves bounced back on Friday night on their homecoming by beating Oxford 14-3. Mike Hein did come back after missing last week with an injury. He had a touchdown run and pass to Desman Stephans to complete the scoring. Clarkston has Stoney Creek looming next week.

Lake Orion: The Dragons used a strong defense and the timely play of quarterback Connor McCarten to earn a huge 24-14 win over Stoney Creek on Friday night. Billy Robertson added two touchdowns in the game and Raymond Payne added a touchdown late. Lake Orion has West Bloomfield looming next week in the Swamp.

Stoney Creek: The Cougars lost a tough one on homecoming to Lake Orion 24-14 on Friday night. Stoney Creek was without Jon Fogler whom was out with an injury.  Justin Taylor added two touchdowns on the night. They have Clarkston looming next week.

Oxford: The Wildcats defense came to play against Clarkston on Friday night but the offense has really struggled in a 14-3 loss. Oxford has scored 20 points in the last three weeks. That’s not a good sign. They have Adams looming next week.

Southfield Arts and Tech: The Warriors control the White after a 42-7 blowout win in Beverly Hills. Isiah Marshall had another solid performance and the defense has really improved from their first two weeks. Southfield Arts and Tech has Bloomfield Hills looming next week.

Harper Woods: The Pioneers had a rough loss to Rochester on Friday night falling 18-12. Harper Woods defense was solid but their offense struggled against the Falcons. The Pioneers have Groves looming next week.

Groves: The Falcons had been playing well but they had a very disappointing 42-7 loss to Southfield Arts and Tech on Friday night at Beverly Hills. Groves has Harper Woods looming next week.

Rochester: The Falcons earned a huge 18-12 win over Harper Woods on Friday night. Alex Bueno was efficient all night. Grant Calcagno had the winning touchdown run and Rochester had a defensive stand against the Pioneers sealing the win. The Falcons are in a very interesting spot right now. They have Oak Park looming next week.

Bloomfield Hills: The Blackhawks earned their first win of the season by beating Oak Park 25-21 on Friday night. Jace Reed had two scores including the winner for Bloomfield Hills. They also needed a defensive stand as well to touch their victory bell. The Blackhawks have Southfield Arts and Tech looming next week.

Oak Park: The Knights had a really tough loss on Friday night to Bloomfield Hills. They fell 25-21 to the Blackhawks and now is 0-5 on the season. Oak Park has Rochester looming next week

Seaholm: The Maples earned a huge victory at Ron Holland Field on Friday night. They scored the winning touchdown with 20 seconds left in a 29-22 victory over North Farmington. Seaholm is rolling as mentioned. They have Troy looming next week.

North Farmington: The Raiders Blue hopes took a hit after allowing a touchdown with 20 seconds left in the game. They fell 29-22 to Seaholm at Ron Holland Field on Friday night. North Farmington has really struggled defensively. They have Troy Athens looming next week.

Farmington: The Falcons had a tough loss to Troy on Friday night falling 16-14. It was a defensive game which did not favor Farmington. The Falcons Blue hopes took a hit. They have Pontiac looming next week.

Troy:  The Colts defense has been the real deal and it showed in their 16-14 win over Farmington on Friday night. Defense has been the key all season for Troy. They also got three field goals from Zach Penoza along with big timely plays from running back Nolan Block and a punt return for a touchdown from Darius Whiteside. The Colts control their destiny in the Blue. They have Seaholm looming next week.

Troy Athens: The Red Hawks got back in the win column on their homecoming by beating Royal Oak 30-13 on Friday night. They got healthy which is a big deal after not having their quarterback for two weeks. Troy Athens has North Farmington looming next week.

Berkley: The Bears lost a tough one on Thursday night to Ferndale 20-11. The division hopes are gone for Berkley. They have the battle of Woodward looming with Royal Oak next week.

Avondale: The Yellow Jackets control their destiny in the Gold with a 54-8 blowout of Pontiac on Friday night. Avondale has been rolling against the Gold. The division could be decided next week when they travel to Ferndale to take on the Eagles.

Royal Oak: The Ravens lost a tough one to Troy Athens on Friday night 30-13. Mekhi Jenkins added a touchdown in the game. Royal Oak has Berkley looming next week in the Battle of Woodward.

Pontiac: The Phoenix really struggled with Avondale on Friday night falling 54-8 to the Yellow Jackets. They have a tough matchup looming with Farmington next week.

Ferndale: The Eagles control their own destiny in the Gold after a 20-11 win over Berkley on Thursday night. Ferndale has Avondale looming next week.
