Cougars fall to Grand Blanc.

Stoney Creek was no match for Grand Blanc on Tuesday night. The Bobcats didn't hold back causing numerous turnovers in a stunning 49-27 blowout in the Division One State Quarterfinals.

Grand Blanc was in complete control throughout the game. The closest Stoney Creek got was 15-10 in the second quarter but the Bobcats went on a 7-0 run to make it 22-10 at the half and outscored the Cougars 27-17 in the second half. Grand Blanc caused numerous turnovers with their full court press and shut down Sarah LaPrairie who led Stoney Creek with 11 points. Chelsea Bishop led the Bobcats with 19 points.

The Cougars head to the offseason with a ton of questions despite winning a district and their first regional crown. Stoney Creek loses LaPrairie and Faith Conliff to graduation but have Merrick Schlawbach, Izzy Ivezaj, Calista Ivezaj, Abigail Ivezah, Samantha Fulkerson, Taylor Fulkerson, Addy Allen, Makayla Gendich, and Addy Allen coming back for Coach Columbus Williams.

LaPrairie will join the likes of Gabby Yurik and Maria Zandi who went on to have a very successful careers at Stoney Creek. She had her 1,000 career point in the loss on Tuesday night.

Program strength will be something to watch for the Cougars this offseason.

Lakers sets up rematch with Rockford.

West Bloomfield had no problem with Temperance Bedford winning 54-32 on Tuesday night in the Division One State Quarterfinals. The Lakers will have a rematch with Rockford on Friday at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State for the third straight season. West Bloomfield beat Rockford in the Division One State Semifinals 66-63 in 2022 but the Rams got them back in the Division One State Finals winning 40-36 last season.

The Lakers defense was efficient in shutting down the Mules and their transition offense was also efficient from the start of the game.

Summer Davis led West Bloomfield with 26 points while only playing three quarters. Indya Davis and Sheridan Beal added nine points each for the Lakers.

West Bloomfield have their rematch with Rockford in the Division One State Semifinals. The Rams earned a hard fought 52-36 win over Holland West Ottawa in the Division One State Quarterfinals. Rockford limited the Panthers to two points in the fourth quarter. It should be a very interesting matchup to say the least in East Lansing.

Rockford has a ton of options scoring wise but none other than Grace Lyons. Lyons was very instrumental scoring 20 points in the State Finals. Also the Rams have Anna Wypich who also was huge in their game last season. Kate Higgins has been very good as well for the Rams.

The Lakers will have to deal with Rockford's student section who will be decked in orange. It should be very interesting to watch this game with the winner playing Grand Blanc in the State Finals on Saturday.
